My fiancé and I have just come back from a week’s stay at this hotel. The hotel in general was very nice, although the rooms are hit and miss. The hotel rooms are slowly being refurbished, therefore there were a few very nice rooms, and the rest were very shabby. Unfortunately we were put in one of the tatty rooms on the 6th floor, and we tried hard for the first couple of days to get our room changed, but to no avail. They showed us 4 other rooms, but they either had a very poor view or were as shabby as the current one we were in. The reception staff were very unhelpful and dismissive towards us – I was not impressed and we had to make do. The food was good, however, the hotel setting was fantastic. Note, there are no tennis courts, regardless of what the brochure says.
A few things that I wish I knew before we got there are as follows:
1) Take English cash money with you!!! When you get to the airport, they charge you £10 Visa each. If you pay in Lire, you get completely ripped off. This also applies when buying anything in the hotel and any trips you may want to go on. All prices are stated in £s, if you want to pay in Lire they give you an extremely poor exchange rate.
2) Bring a beach towel with you for sunbathing otherwise you have to buy one.
3) If you have a transfer voucher, make sure the rep hands it back to you before you get onto the shuttle bus so you have it with you for your return journey. We stupidly didn’t take a photocopy of it and the rep never gave it back to us therefore, when it came to calling the number to reconfirm the transfer back 24 hrs before departure we didn’t have anything to hand. I had fun and games trying to get my holiday company to email it through to me.
4) If you use the internet over there, the I is in a different place to normal keyboards! I tried to log in tons of times, and couldn’t. I only found out later the I was located on the middle line of the keyboard near the return key.
5) Take some strong insect repellent, there were a lot of people with very nasty bites on them. I didn’t get any and am usually susceptible, but there were a few who did.
6) The beach is made of shale, therefore, I would recommend you take with you some water shoes, so when you go in the sea you don’t cut yourself.
This hotel isn’t up to Caribbean standards, but was adequate. I wouldn't go back as there are many more places to visit, however, I think there are probably better hotels in Turkey than this one. Have a fantastic holiday and I hope you found this review useful.
