We have just returned from 2weeks at this hotel, and we were very pleasantly suprised after the poor reviews we had read and the money we had paid. We arrived at 5 o'clock in the morning having travelled nearly 12 hours, and the rooms were immaculate.
The food was fine although there was a birds nest above one of the trays of food in the resturant that put us off but everything else was fine. The waiters and bar staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you and work really hard, although we heard a russian speak to the staff horrible. The amazing animation team worked long hours but always had a smile and made the holiday fun for everyone from ages 7 - 40. BEAWARE of a 'Chinese restaurand Golden beache!' on the corner they charged us £200 for a meal for 6 of us one with only one round of drinks! they add extra's on the bill which we didn't ask for!
Although the resturant opposite the taxi boats are brillient and very cheap and friendly also the palettecafebar are very friendly. We are hoping to return soon.

“Advice and hotel review for Hotel Turunc”

Turunc Hotel

My fiancé and I have just come back from a week’s stay at this hotel. The hotel in general was very nice, although the rooms are hit and miss. The hotel rooms are slowly being refurbished, therefore there were a few very nice rooms, and the rest were very shabby. Unfortunately we were put in one of the tatty rooms on the 6th floor, and we tried hard for the first couple of days to get our room changed, but to no avail. They showed us 4 other rooms, but they either had a very poor view or were as shabby as the current one we were in. The reception staff were very unhelpful and dismissive towards us – I was not impressed and we had to make do. The food was good, however, the hotel setting was fantastic. Note, there are no tennis courts, regardless of what the brochure says.

A few things that I wish I knew before we got there are as follows:
1) Take English cash money with you!!! When you get to the airport, they charge you £10 Visa each. If you pay in Lire, you get completely ripped off. This also applies when buying anything in the hotel and any trips you may want to go on. All prices are stated in £s, if you want to pay in Lire they give you an extremely poor exchange rate.
2) Bring a beach towel with you for sunbathing otherwise you have to buy one.
3) If you have a transfer voucher, make sure the rep hands it back to you before you get onto the shuttle bus so you have it with you for your return journey. We stupidly didn’t take a photocopy of it and the rep never gave it back to us therefore, when it came to calling the number to reconfirm the transfer back 24 hrs before departure we didn’t have anything to hand. I had fun and games trying to get my holiday company to email it through to me.
4) If you use the internet over there, the I is in a different place to normal keyboards! I tried to log in tons of times, and couldn’t. I only found out later the I was located on the middle line of the keyboard near the return key.
5) Take some strong insect repellent, there were a lot of people with very nasty bites on them. I didn’t get any and am usually susceptible, but there were a few who did.
6) The beach is made of shale, therefore, I would recommend you take with you some water shoes, so when you go in the sea you don’t cut yourself.

This hotel isn’t up to Caribbean standards, but was adequate. I wouldn't go back as there are many more places to visit, however, I think there are probably better hotels in Turkey than this one. Have a fantastic holiday and I hope you found this review useful.

“I would not recommend this hotel”

Turunc Hotel

Jun 1, 2008

We stayed in this hotel in may 2008. the transfer time from the airport was 2 hours longer than we were told when we booked it. Partly due to an enforced stop at a cafe on the way - not what you want at 2am.

the rooms are basic but clean - the cleaners are great but this is meant to be a 4star hotel and i have stayed in a better 1star. I have been to turkey many times - my husband is turkish and this was the most disapointing trip. the indoor pool was not open, there was no bar just a dining room where the kids entertainment from 7 till 9 ensured it was impossible to have a relaxing meal. I would not recommend eating in this hotel anyway, although the selection looks amazing, most of the food was cold and left out for far too long - my husband had a dodgy stomach for most of the holiday. after the first two nights we were forced to eat out every night. We were meant to be on an all inclusive deal however none of the stuff advertised when we booked the holiday was included eg water! water sports, turkish bath, indoor pool, nightly entertainment. Also the beach was just a dirty harbour. we had a lovely time but that was due to the lovely village of turunc and not the hotel. i would recommend the village but do not stay in this hotel!

Reading.

“4/5 star - never”

Turunc Hotel

We arrived on 17th May at around 6.30am absolutely shattered from travelling all night. After an interesting transfer where the driver had to phone somebody to ask for directions after every drop off we finally arrived at the Turunc Hotel. First impressions were that it was very nice. After having checked in we were shown our room. It was basic to say the least but it was clean so we decided to stick with it. Having spoke to a few people, all the rooms seemed to be much the same anyway. We threw our bags into the room and had a wander around the hotel grounds. The communal areas/poolside/beach area were stunning. After this we thought we might as well go and have some breakfast. This set the precident for the whole 10 days. The food was disgusting, most of it unrecognisable. After a couple of days we didn't even bother looking at what was on offer, we would just walk into the village and buy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant manager (in his star trek outfit!) noticed that we were walking past his fayre every mealtime and out of the hotel and pulled us up about it. He wasn't happy when we told him his food was 1 star. Turunc itself is a very nice picturesque place with plenty of nice bars, restaurants (luckily) and shops.
We took the taxi boat to Marmaris (hassle capital of the world) and Icmeler twice. Icmeler is a very nice place with again lots of bars and restaurants. Don't miss the Wednesday market, you won't believe the bargains to be had, but be advised that EVERYTHING is fake, but good fakes. That leads me to another thing - we bought some cigarettes from a shop on the main drag just before the market (next door to a hairdressers/barbers) - these were fake too, and probably very dangerous. They looked ok but we only opened them up when we got home and they didn't look right and tasted wrong - BE CAREFUL.
All in all, the resort of Turunc is 5* but the hotel is 3* max.

just back from hotel turunc.been to turkey twice before(bitez,hisaronu/oledeniz)love turkey.Transfer from airport in a 30 seater mini bus was 3hrs 10 mins after landing at 8.10pm arrived at hotel 00:10am.Been told if your travelling with a package holiday in a large bus transfer time can take up to six hours if you have multi drop offs.Receptionists are not too friendly.Rooms begining with Nos 1 or 2 will be in my words the first part off the hotel where it doesnt quite match 4/5 star more like 2/3 star but the rest of the blocks are a lot better (russian, polish and german apts). Mini bar/fridge is absolutely diabolical,it would'nt make you an ice cube/chill your water even if you had an eskimo in it,also with all-inclusive you dont get anything put in it apart from 2 small btls water and 2 sml btls of mineral water for yor arrival. Food is fantastic with a great selection for all nationalites and it is'nt left out all day for the flies which is worth 2 stars in itself .There is meal times which is good.Watch out for the bbq chicken and make sure its cooked properly, bbq sea bass is fantastic as is the tuna, liver and all other bbq food. You should try a little bit of everything, you wil be surprised at how much you will enjoy. Unmotorised water sports is not free the same as motorised water sports but is advertised as so, (pedalos £6 per hour, kayaks £4ph,jet skis £25 per 10 mins). BUT !!!! most importantly is your return journey. We travelled as a party of six adults and we left Glasgow with the average weight of 20kilos each(which i understood was the permitted allowance),but at Dalaman airport, with luggage the same weight as Glasgow the cases were put outo the conveyour belt ,tagged and left sight on an other belt then was told we were over weight by 29kilos (around 5kilos extra each)and we had to pay a charge of wait for it.............£174.....yes......£174 =£6 perkilo and was not allowed to retreive our bags to take the two smallest cases off as hand luggage and were told that if we did'nt pay in cash not credit card just cash we would be removed from the flight.DIABOLICAL. Cant understand why we were'nt told that we were over weight at Glasgow. Mik & Ali 08
