Me and my partner just came back from a four night stay at the cottages bettystown and they really lived up to what we were expecting .We stayed in honeymoon cottage which has everything u need for that romantic cosy getaway its like a hobbbits house from lord rings funny but true. The sound of the ocean waves greet you from first awakening to last thing at night. There isnt so much to do in bettystown itself very small . Glad we had a car to get around and try different places such as dublin and drogheda. We did try relish just short walk along beach iam sorry to say it was very dissapointing , We got chicken which had seen better days and was overpriced .The blackbull bull in drogheda is a lovley setting and foods even better. We did not meet rodger and liz the owners but mel who greeted us seemed very nice and helpfull.

Myself, husband and 2 young children are just back from 4 magical days spent at the cottages. Even as i'm writing this i'm nearly afraid to let people know how good it is, as i fear i'll never get the dates i want in future, as it's a hidden gem, but has to be shared!!! Liz, Roger, Mel and the rest of the fabulous crewe make this holiday all the more special as you get the warmest of welcome and treatment during your time at the cottages and you really do feel that this is not just a business but a deep love and affection for a very special place and the people that are lucky enough to stay there. The cottages are finsihed to the last word with such a homely feel yet satalite and wi-fi and all the necessary modern luxeries we all crave. The gardens are breathtakingly beautiful and my children loved the well stocked playhouse and childrens play area. The views to the beach are out of this world and you really do feel cosseted from the rest of the world in this little corner of heaven. Needless to say if i win the lottery i'm moving in permanantly. Very few things in life live up to the hype and expectation but this my friends is definately one of them, and we will be back!

Room Tip: All cottages are unique and beautiful!

Brilliant Holiday, this was our first time travelling to Ireland and I am so glad we picked the Cottages to stay at. We booked the Honeymoon cottage for the first week in September and had brilliant weather. The Cottages are lovely and have everything we could have wanted, we were meet by Liz with a plate of scones, Liz explained a lot about what there was to do and see in the area and she was very helpful and knowledgable when we ask for further information later in the week. I would recommend having a car so you can explore, we liked the Historic Goal in Wicklow which took about 1 and 1/2 to get to. The beach is lovely and just a few steps away from our cottage. I would recommend this place to all people, (very secure for children).
Thank you to Liz and team for a wonderful stay we will be back.

Had a wonderful holiday at Little Orchard Cottage in July. The whole site is beautiful, gorgeous grounds , the gardeners do a wonderful job.
We were welcomed by a lovely plate of freshly baked scones and jam, delicious. that cup of tea was sorely needed after our journey. The cottage itself was amazing. everything has been catered for and the whole feel is very relaxing and homely. Enjoyed the jigsaws and books.
Direct access to a beautiful beach was handy as my mother is in her 80s and found getting around really easy. Shops and some restaurants including Tesco nearby.
We really didn't want to leave our little oasis in Ireland. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable.

We stayed at Apple Loft Cottage for two weeks in August and had a wonderful time! I can confirm every single comment Pidge_Pooh made is the previous review! The cottages are beautiful, well equipped, clean and the gardens are stunning as well. Our cottage had plenty of books to choose from, a couple of games and the garden house provides anything you might need in terms of beach toys (spades, buckets, etc.). We were lucky with the weather and spent tome on the beach every day, walking, building sandcastles and flying kites.

Mel was super-helpful and always ready to give advice where to go and what to do, which we gratefully accepted. We visited Brú na Bóinne and Ardgillan Castle, we ventured into Dublin for a day, walked around Drogheda and went to the shopping centre/cinema in Swords. We had lovely day trips to Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains and the National Stud Farm in Kildare.

There is a Tesco locally and as mentioned in the previous review there are some restaurants in near-by Bettystown, but not much more. We felt to have a car was a must, although there is a regular, direct coach-service to Dublin which leaves right outside The Cottages.

This was our first visit to Ireland and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Our 4-night stay at Thatcher's Rest was amazing. My husband and I with our 2 young daughters (4 and 1.5) had a wonderful stay. The cottages are immaculately kept, but at the same time hugely welcoming - truly a home from home. Everything has been thought of, from beach tents to dishwasher tabs. With plenty of supermarket options nearby there is nothing that you would find yourself in need of - and if there was, I am pretty sure the friendly, kind and attentive team at The Cottages would magic it up for you! Thatcher's Rest was spacious, spotless, and the views were just unbeatable. With 2 very young children it was lovely to have a safe, enclosed space; and the little play garden was a wonderful bonus in addition to the miles of sandy beach. Our only regret was that our stay was so short; but that was simply because it was fully booked! We fully intend to rectify this next Summer and will be booking a longer stay before we get beaten to it for a second time :)

We stayed in Thatcher's Cottage, as we prefer a cottage with alot of space (we are a family of 4) and it was indeed very spacious. Spotlessly clean, and in a fabulous beach front location, the view from the huge bay window (complete with window seat) was stunning.

Little extra touches that we appreciated were the homemade scones and jam on arrival, the incredibly warm welcome from Mel (who continued to be a fantastic source of local knowledge throughout our week), the underfloor heating, gorgeous toiletries (only self catering holiday cottage we've ever had with these provided), buckets & spades, books, games, beach towels - all this helps enormously when you have flown to Ireland with limited baggage allowance!

We loved the fact the entrance gate and the gate leading directly onto the beach were security coded meaning our kids (aged 4 and 6) were very safe playing outside the cottage.

As the weather was rather mixed, we spent alot of time going here and there rather than sitting on the beach. We visited Dublin Zoo, Tayto Park, Dundalk, Droghedra, Funtasia and the cinema at The Pavillions in Swords, all of which we can recommend.

Locally, we were disappointed to find the farm shop opposite the cottages had downsized to just a few bits and bobs (not worth going to now) and the local shops in Bettystown and Laytown were a little basic and not the standard we hoped for. However, we were incredibly impressed with the fantastic selection of restaurants on the doorstep (walking distance) such as Relish. We ate there many times and were never disappointed with whatever we ordered!

The Cottages are a real 'cut above' other holiday cottages - worth every penny, we cannot recommend them highly enough. Book a holiday here - you will not be disappointed!
