“Looking forward to a return visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Stayed recently, mid week, in the peace and quiet of Mossie's B&B which was a wonderful break and somewhere I would thoroughly recommend. We loved every aspect to it ; the friendly manager Dorothea ( and Emma her exuberant dog ), the marvellous breakfasts, the sublime dinner, the tasteful furnishings and most of all the location which is up a quiet boreen with a distand view of the sea. There's a pub ( The Sugarloaf ) about 1/2 mile down the road in case you're concerned that the location is a little too isolated. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: The Italian room !

I stayed for a few nights in August at Mossie's and it was simply wonderful. Mossie's is a great place to escape everyday life and enjoy the beautiful sights of Ireland. It's a very quiet place, slighty hidden in a beautiful garden. The house/rooms are are fondly decorated and clean. I enjoyed lovely moments in the garden and quiet evenings in the living room with an open chimney. Food is simply amazing. Breakfast is included (you can choose between various different types) and dinner optional but not less delicious. The host, Dorothee, is a very good cook and she was very caring. She also gave me good advice on where to go to for a day trip and knows some beautiful spots. It was definitely not my last stay at Mossie's. Highly recommended

Room Tip: - The Russian and the French Room have their own balcony and the best view. You can see the sea from...

My husband and I stayed at Mossies four nights in June and the place is lovely inside and out, the food was great and our host, Dorothee was wonderful--the perfect mix of attentive and friendly and allowing us our own space. I enjoyed relaxing in the garden when touring got tiring. We appreciated having a choice of delicious breakfasts and the dinner Dorothee made for us one night was delicious! What a treat to be welcomed with tea and cake when we arrived and to have milk and a chocolate in our room each night. Good location on the Beara Peninsula, not too far from Glengarriff.

Room Tip: Russian and French rooms have balcony. Russian is nicest with huge bathroom.

After a long hike on the Beara Way, we found our way to "Mossie's". It is slightly off the way but it's absolutely worth it. Great rooms, great location and a wonderful view over Bantry Bay.
Dorothee, the hostess is very helpful and an awesome cook and we truly enjoyed her Jamie Oliver inspired meal. After a nice evening, we enjoyed a good night's sleep(thanks to the high quality mattresses!).
Each of the five rooms is spacious. If you need some extra space and a wonderful bathroom, choose the Russian room! Balcony inclusive.

My wife and I live in Dublin and spent 3 nights in Mossies in early June 2013. Really loved it - a beautiful house and old-fashioned garden. Have a look at the pictures on the website - and the reality is even nicer. A great centre for touring the Beara penninsula.
Dorothee, the hostess/manager was very kind and hospitable - and served delightful tea and cakes on the lawn on our arrival. Dinner provided an opportunity for interesting chat with other guests and Dorothee herself which we enjoyed very much.
Our first visit to Beara and to Mossies - and we hope to get back!

After the Beara-way walk we came here and it was wunderfull!
B&B stands for Bed & Breakfast but here it was also Best & Beautiful.
The food was perfect, the chambers clean and original.
We met nice people, had nice international contacts and conversations.
The service was great.

Booked this decidedly upmarket B&B in July 2012 for 2 night stay with 1 evening meal. My party being my wife & I & her friend. By the time we arrived in Sept 2012 I discovered to my surprise that the property had ben sold. We were met in the garden by this charming German lady whom I initially thought was a helper. Turned out that she was Dorothea, sister of the new owner, her brother & still based in Germany. She was running the place for him, helped by two German friends Katerina & Andrea. Their culinary speciality was Vegetarian, something completly new to me in my dotage! Our first evening meal was so good that we opted for same on our second night. Everyone sat down together for dinner including Dorothea & her friends.

Setting is idyllic, elevated with beautiful views overlooking Bantry Bay. The address Crookhaven is a misnomer; correct address is Mossies, Ulusker House, Trafrask, Adrigole, Beara, Co.Cork.

Location is about 1km away from main R572 road between Adrigole & Glengarriff at Trafrask cross roads. Well signposted as it needs to be!

Place had been obviously lovingly developed by previous owners but here & there you could spot where attention will be needed by the new owner.

Love to return some day.

Room Tip: Russian room probably best as it has balcony overlooking sea. Italian & French rooms also have s...
