“Unique alpine attraction, great hiking.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Our B&B in Fussen had a brochure for this attraction and we made the hour drive here. The drive was definitely worth it! Breitachklamm is a narrow canyon that has hiking trails throughout and surrounding. The alpine nature here was amazing: the power of the water, the beauty of the canyon, the trees and fields. The cool mist in the canyon made this an enjoyable hike in the warm summer.

There are several "end points," where you can turn around or make a loop back to the beginning. We looped back at Muller's Alpe (2 miles out) where there is a nice pub with beer and light snacks. I was introduced to a radler, which is half beer, half lemonade, very refreshing. We made the hike in tennis shoes and had no problems.

“Great place to spend a morning walking around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

At Tiefenbach, near Oberstdorf, the Breitachklamm gorge is about 2.5km long and up to 150m deep, but often only a few meters wide.
If you’re staying at a hotel you will receive the “Allgäu-Walser-Card” and this will give a small reduction on the entrance fee. If you go by car, the parking area by Tiefenbach costs 2€.
The gorge is one of the favourite day trip destinations in the area; there are dozens of people there even relatively early in the morning. It has sturdy, well-maintained paths easy even for “non-walkers”, take waterproof shoes. There’s a short steep section at the end where you can exit and walk to the Kleinwalsertal entrance or walk back to the parking via forest trails. This trail initially has a serie of staircases leading to the upper gorge. But you can just return the same way back.

“Breitachklamm, Oberstdorf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Breitachklamm was suggested by a German colleague of mine when I was in Germany for a bussiness trip. The area is and outdoor forest trekking adventure for the young and old. So a good pair of trekking shoes is a neccessity due to the rocky trails. The best time to visit is during the early morning so that you can breath in the fresh morning air. And because this is a jungle trek, make sure you bring some water with you.

The location is easy to find and the beautiful stream of cold waters will just make you feel very relaxed. This is one of the cheapest place to visit if you are on a budget with 2 Euros for parking and 6 Euros for entrance. The kids can also spend some time biulding a momento by the stream with the abundance of rocks available.
