“Knowing Marcos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The place was very informative about the late president Marcos. It was the ancestral house of the late president Marcos and Mrs. Imelda Marcos. The Museum is near at the Jollibee. You can just cross on the other side. You can take a tricycle from the highway if you will take a bus from Vigan

“Worth a visit when in Ilocos Norte”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

Located in Batac, Ilocos Norte - the next town south of Laoag City - the Marcos Museum Mausoleum is one of those places that the visitor of Ilocos Norte should see. The crypt itself which houses the former President is a bit eerie - very dark, cold with music playing in the background. I understand it's been a local discussion whether the body is really the body of FM or just a wax replica.

Touring the other parts of the Museum, I have to admit, makes you admire the man. I think he was the last great orator among the Philippine Presidents. As a martial-law baby, I think I had to see this.

When you finish up, you must visit Glory's Empanada which to me is the best Ilocos empanada. The stalls are walking distance, just across the bridge.

“History”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

If you are a history buff, the Marcos Museum is a must see! There are rare books and magazines about the former president. I wanted to have a copy of his presidential decrees but I am on a tight budget that time.

The place is poorly maintained. Based from the dust I had seen, they are probably cleaning it once a week. The newspaper clippings, magazines etc. are not properly taken care of. The newspaper clippings and others should be enclosed in glass to protect them from the elements. Museum experts should be assigned there to maintain the place.

I liked to buy a shirt as a souvenir, but there were limited designs and colors; and some sizes were not available at that time.

“creepy...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

I was just amazed on how long Marcos'es body lies there. It felt very creepy plus the smell of the formalin welcomes you upon entering the door. I was just wondering how many pesos were spent to maintain this.
