“Almost perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here on the recommendation of friends who stayed last year. Our room was very nice but only one small problem for us,it was a twin rather than a double, however the positioning, views and size of the room made up for this. If converted to a double this would be one of the best rooms in the hotel. The grounds are lovely and the pool although quite small is perfect for a swim to cool off, there are plenty of places to sit either in the sun or to find some shade. It was hot when we stayed so the shaded areas got a lot of use. The roof top eating area is perfect for a meal as the sunsets and you can check the fixed menu as you collect you breakfast before deciding to stay in or eat out. Breakfast is super and scrambled eggs the best I have had anywhere. In the late morning James will come round and ask if you want to have lunch, you must have a mixed salad dish once, it's really good. All in all a great place to stay for some peace and quiet in a excellent location.

We were very fortunate to find vacancy at the finca when booking our vacation. The reviews written are spot on. It is a relaxing stay set in an amazing piece of property.

The house is full of history, tastefully decorated throughout, peaceful and quiet. It is a great place to base yourself for exploring the mountains and for hiking. Though the finca is quite isolated, it is very close to some lovely villages such as Selva, where you can find excellent dining options. You are also very close to the major highway yet also very close to the scenic routes of the mountains.

Rooms are excellent: large, comfortable and clean. Wifi signal was excellent. The only drawbacks is that our room did not have a balcony and perhaps a small fridge would come in handy but this was really minor.

The hosts, Leigh and James are fantastic. They really thought of everything. Breakfast is simply superb! Lots of fresh choices and you even have an option to have dinner for 31€ pp. We got excellent advice on what to see, shortcuts, beaches, markets and various restaurants in the area. You are also given a nice bottle of wine and bottled water. There is also a great afternoon snack and beers/drinks available throughout the day at a very reasonable price and based on the honesty system.

Nights are enchanting, so many stars in the sky and you can hear the lovely sounds of the sheep wondering around with the bells on their necks.

We really didn't want to leave and highly recommend staying here.

The reviews drew us to the hotel and we were not disappointed. James and crew were brilliant.
Our suite was great, roomy and combined old charm with modern comforts such a modern walk in shower, food was varied and very good. Gardens relaxing and spacious with a lovely pool to cool off in. This place is heaven. 10/10.

Third visit - absolutely amazing surroundings, beautiful scenery and great hospitality from Es Castell team. Top cuisine with italian inspiration as well. Best orange juice ever tasted. Stayed there with wife and family and we all have such a splendid time

We stayed for four nights and it was the perfect end to a super holiday.

James and team put us at ease straight away and nothing was too much trouble to them.

Large and airy bedroom, evening meals were absolutely delicious as were the couple of meals we had in the local villages. We recommend eating at one of the places in the square in Campanet.

We took full advantage of chilling out by the pool, reading lots of books, playing a game of very competitive tennis on the nearby court and exploring the surrounding hills. Just perfect!

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid June and everything was wonderful. The place is gorgeous with a breathtaking setting. The room was excellent, the food superb, and the staff outstanding. James is a great host and will do everything possible to make sure your stay is memorable. I could say more but I think you get the point. If you haven't stayed here you're missing a great experience!
