“Excellent cottage & excellent hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Wheeldon trees farm cottage is delightful! From the moment of arrival the welcome is very friendly and the cottages are first class. Throughout our stay the cottages were brilliantly equipped and Debra and Martin were perfect hosts! The emphasis on the environment from recycling to use of natural product are there for your use throughout the cottage. The elderflower cordial is a must and the home baked bread was to die for!!!! So glad Barney (our Bassett Hound) brought us the pets welcome cottage guide. Dogs are well provided for, any equipment is at hand to borrow if needed and a lovely touch was a gift pack for pets on arrival. We would not hesitate to re-book this cottage in the future.

I cannot praise Wheeldon Trees enough, the cleanliness, attention to detail and the warm welcome go beyond expectation. Beautiful location, a dog owners paradise. Walk High Wheeldon peak from your door, and lots more. Debora, Martin and Nigel on our arrival have just the right touch for us, and where welcoming and have covered every eventuality. A must is the breakfast basket locally sourced and a delight. Deborahs muddleberry jam is so good. This has been so good we have booked for September before we left.

Our stay at Wheeldon Trees Farm was utterly wonderful. We thought that it looked lovely and friendly on the website. The reality was infinitely better - just perfect. The cottage (Mycroft) was comfortable, fantastically well equipped and spotlessly clean. The welcome goodies were delicious and charmingly packed - including a woofy welcome pack of treats for our dogs. Wheeldon has so much to offer there is no need to move off site. There are however, so many attractions nearby that a weekend is not nearly enough time - and when I have finished this review, I shall be booking our next stay at Wheeldon! Words are really inadequate to thank Deborah and Martin, but they will have to do - so from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much and we can't wait to come again.

Very cosy, warm and homely cottage and they really have thought of everything. It is better equipped than my own home. Lovely owners who are very helpful and full of information, we even had a freshly baked loaf waiting for us in the morning after we arrived. Lots to do and plenty of dog friendly local pubs which serve great food and beer.

Just got back from a two night stay here for our first visit to The Peak District. When we go back to the area again there's no question that Wheeldon Trees Farm will be where we'll stop. The accommodation was perfect with all your needs catered for and more. Deborah and Martin made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much of an effort. The cottages were in a beautifully rural location but close to many of the towns and places to visit that The Peak District has to offer. Absolutely perfect!

Hi DW, your prompt review is much appreciated. We love the fact that we're in the middle of nowhere but only 10 minutes from Buxton and 15 minutes to Bakewell !

Enjoyed another great stay at Wheeldon Trees in great accommodation (4th visit) - wish we could have stayed longer again - plan to return in the Autumn. Each time we visit it just gets better. All you need is provided for your stay, which is clean, well cared for and very comfortable - lots of nice touches to make your stay easier. The countryside around is beautiful and still lots more to explore in what is a very friendly part of the world. This includes the hosts who go out of their way to make your stay memorable. The icing on the cake is the new laid eggs for breakfast - WONDERFUL.

Many thanks for your review Julie - we're very lucky to have such a dedicated and hard-working housekeeping team to help us. Hopefully our new hens will continue to provide us with a good supply of those yummy fresh eggs......

To celebrate Grandpa's 70th, we shared 3 cottages, each family having their own space. The accommodation is absolutely 'first class' with top class comfortable furniture, beautiful bedrooms and excellent kitchen/cooking facilities. There is a playroom for the children (2yr-6yr. olds) which also doubled as a dining room for all eleven of us to eat together on one occasion. The rabbits and chickens greatly attracted the children and Deborah encouraged their questions and interest.
The 'obstacle course' was well used and just right for the age group. And the sun shone; what a bonus!! Thank you so much Deborah and Martin for going that extra mile.... Grandma
