“2 night stay in Critchlow cottage”

Had a lovely stay at Wheeldon Trees. Very relaxing and peaceful. Snow drifts were amazing! Thank you for making our stay so easy. Looking forward to having our wedding celebrations there in the summer!

Thanks again for a lovely break. Couldn't ask for more :-)

Really enjoyed this return visit.min face, we booked again so will need to write our 3rd review! Fantastic that the baby essentials (toys, high chairs, stair gates etc) were provided and dog stuff (bowls, towels, throws, dog tags) - took the hassle out of travelling.

We have stayed at WTF twice as a big family party using 5 or 6 cottages so we can all mingle and the kids can play/ go on walks or in our case just now go sledging and climb 8 foot snowdrifts. Each cottage is fantastic in terms of comfort, equipment and the ground source underfloor heating is fantastic if your are staying when it is cold. I know the place has won hard contested Silver Awards for Derbyshire accommodation but personally i can't see why it didn't get Gold. Everything is high quality, local food (try the breakfast baskets with Deborah's carefully sourced local foods and home baked bread), plus a well stocked larder/freezer with lovely food ...all home cooked. We used this facility a lot as we were snowed in for 3 days! I recommend the fish pie, home made soup, local steak, lamb chops etc. : all reasonably priced and very accomplished. For kids and adults a slice of games and toys, entertainment (DVD library and books) table football and pool await in the Long Room. You can safely let them play or join in!

The WTF team are lovely people running a fab place. I have no hesitation in recommending it at all. They have thought of everything and its all at the highest spec, with nothing left unthought of from the Nature Shampoo to the local white honey and the home made welcome chocolate box.

We chose this cottage because it looked so well set up for disabled visitors. We certainly weren't disappointed! The cottage was fully accessible, very comfortable and absolutely lovely. The attention to detail was impressive and this extended to every aspect of the stay. Deborah, Martin, Karen and Nigel were complete stars, especially when the worst snow for 50 years meant we were unable to leave. They could not have done any more to make sure we were comfortable. Having had a wonderful 4 days in the beautiful Peak District before the snow came, we regarded the extra snowbound days as an adventure. I can't recommend Wheeldon Trees highly enough, especially all the delicious home made produce, and will certainly be returning (hopefully without the snow!)

Room Tip: Sheldon Cottage was perfect for a disabled visitor with limited mobility and the views over the Peak...

We used the cottage because of its facilities for disabled for somebody with very poor mobility. The cottage was spacious. A good wet room and additional aids made life very easy for her. The cottage was well equipped, very comfortable and warm even in the snow. The owners were very attentive without being obtrusive, and helped us out when we were in a spot of bother. There is good attention to detail and the whole property is eco friendly. Thoroughly recommend Wheeldon Trees.

we returned to Wheeldon last week as our holiday break last march was first class. it was a doggy holiday for our Hungarian vizsla who thoroughly enjoyed himself even after a 4hr journey up from Norfolk. Deborah & Martin are fantastic hosts, the cottages are equipped with everything you need for walking which meant this year I was a suitcase less! Can't wait to return. First Class all the way....a definite especially for dog owners.

Combining a perfect location with beautifully furnished cottages where no detail has been overlooked .The owners have gone out of their way to make sure every aspect of the stay is enjoyable. We loved the breakfast tray and the delicious cake that welcomed us in our cottage when we arrived .
We will definitely return .
