“Nature at its best!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Had just been to this place for 1D/1N stay with my wife & daughter. We never knew what was in store for us right there.I have traveled almost a n number of times in this part of the country known for its beautiful beaches but this was something new and least expected.Kudos to all those person's involved in setting up this beautiful resort utilizing the natural flora & fauna, landscape and not to forget the beautiful stream flowing downhills.Proper setup for nature lovers like me and calmness stretched to the limit's.we were taken aback with the hospitality of the manger mr.subramaniam and the entire staff. Not to forget Mr.jade swamy and Mr.sharmaji.Food has a real touch of the local cuisine and the chef here has a good measure of his valuable guests. They have a good number of activities here to keep yourself engaged.Had a relaxing stay here and hope to visit the place again with more expectation's,Good place to unwind.

Room Tip: "Rooms facing the stream are quieter since they are far from the restaurant area"

We travelled to this resort in December, 2012. Besides having comfortable rooms, a beautiful view, friendly staff and an excellent location, this property has MORE to offer. This resort has more than 6000 varieties of plants! And is claimed to be the biggest botanical resort in Asia! Mr KP Shetty, (The owner of the property) is extremly passionate about plants and has got plants from different parts of the world. And the best part is that as you walk down the property, the fragrance changes every 20 feet! There are aromatic trees and plants all through the property. If you love plants, this is THE place to visit. You can also see butterflies and beautiful colourful flowers.
In front of the cottages is a stream flowing, and in the far end we can see a mountain range (no one knows which one). The stream is surrounded with trees and countless plants. There’s a pathway from the entrance to every cottage. At regular intervals, they do have places to sit by the stream. (Small shack like structures) Inside the property, there’s a place for camp fire, an easy chair, a swing, a trampoline and whole lot of other things. There’s a breeze throughout the day. This place will be so much more beautiful during monsoon!
There's also a waterfall nearby which is about 2 hours walk uphill. The location is also the show stealer - It's not close to any city; it's about 30 km drive from Kundapur. If you're headed towards the sea and looking for an experience rather than just another place to stay, this is it.

This is a difficult place to review because we had a stay that was quite mixed.

It seemed that the hotel had not been open very long. Some of the things mentioned on the website either weren't there at all or were being constructed while we were there. It is in a fairly remote location, we had a long drive from Mangalore to reach it. The grounds are very pretty with a nice river apparently dammed to provide a small waterway for paddling in the kayaks.

The cottage we stayed in was finished off to a high standard; the bathroom was very modern and clean. There was a nice bench outside which looked towards the river.

At the time we stayed, there were just two types of ayurvedic massage on offer, although we were told that they were planning to introduce more. There was not much else to do: there was one trek offered to us, a walk through woods up to a lovely waterfall. You need one of the staff to drive you to the start point and the walk was about 40 minutes in either direction; the guide walked with us.

The food was ok at first, although they hadn't really decided on what they were offering: they prepared some nice south Indian food, but then they also insisted at some mealtimes on serving what they called "continental" food - one of the meals featured what was called "chicken salami", which looked and sounded particularly unappetizing. During the last day of our stay, the food quality went downhill; they reverted to a buffet style of dinner and breakfast and the food was really quite poor. The food is served in a large open refectory; face one way and see the lovely gardens; face the other and see the large industrial kitchen range on which the food is being made; given the setting, the food area could be made much nicer.

However, the staff were attentive and friendly throughout; the husband and wife massage team being especially so.

Given that Wild Woods is relatively new, maybe it will improve with time, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But on the evidence of our own stay, we couldn't really recommend it. It has a lovely setting, but there is really not enough to do. If the pool does eventually get built, that may provide the focus for the place; who knows.

Room Tip: All the cottages looked pretty similar; ours was very nice indeed. Make sure you face the river.

We stumbled upon this place by chance only to find that we landed in an excellent place. The food and service was excellent. I enjoyed the sea food served by them. Initially we had planned to stay there for two nights but ended up staying there for an extra night. The rooms were excellent and tastefully done. The entire property was beautifully made up. The stretch of road from the main highway to this place was quite scenic as well.
The owner of the property had also called us to ensure that we had a good time there. The estate manager and the service personnel were very helpful.
We were amazed to the see the butterflies around the property ( maybe it is seasonal ). Also found quite a few birds.
Someshwara beach which is close to Baindoor is beautiful with hardly any crowd (not sure about the quality of water though). We also visited Murdeshwara, Marvante Beach, Kollur Temple, Apsara konda (visit this in the evening to view the sunset from an elevated location).

Room Tip: All the rooms face the stream.

The is a belated review, of a really outstanding resort. Four of us stayed here for three nights during the monsoon, and simply loved it. The owner KP Shetty is passionate about anything green, and one only has to visit the resort to see what wonders he has wrought. The location of the resort, with a river( in full spate) running all around it is very picturesque, the cottages face the running water. As others have posted, the ethnic cuisine is to be savoured, and the staff are very eager to please. All in all a real nugget waiting to be discovered, and highly recommended

Hi, the location is very nice and the staff was very friendly. But on their website they write something about pools. We haven't found any pool. Also there was a lot of construction work during daytime and I don't expect this will stop soon since they're planning to build a lot. So once this this hotel is finished it will be very nice, but this can take some time. You also might not be able to believe the staff when they ensure that there is no construction work ongoing since our neighbor asked before checking in if there is construction work and they said : NO, but there was construction work all day long :(
