Stayed overnight at The Whistledown on 4th Jan. with friends. The room was very clean and a good size, the bed was comfortable, tea/coffee facilities in room. Great cooked breakfast the following morning, also cereal and fresh fruit available. Had one drink in the bar in the evening as we were heading out to a restaurant (23@ Balmoral). The hotel bar was busy when we returned, a good mix of people and a good buzz about the place. Will be returning for another stay in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lough

From the moment that we were booked in with the Assistant Manager, who was so friendly and hospitable, and took us to our room. We were spoilt beyond belief, with friendliness and couldn't do more for you. The restaurant was amazing, and the food excellent. Well presented, and we were provided with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine. Our dessert was wonderfully presented with "Happy Anniversay" written in chocolate with a large sparkler. It made our anniversary very enjoyable and memorable. The restaurant staff and bar staff very efficient and friendly. And couldn't do more for you. Thank Whistledown for your wonderful hospitality and warmth. The christmas decor was so well done, and you can see that the staff of the hotel take pride in their hotel, and make it a home from home for you, with wonderful seaview. The room was well presented and very modernised, and the bathroom is wonderfully clean. The Kingsize bed was wonderful, and the furnishings very well suited to the room. Tea and coffee facilities, and especially the fact that there was a hairdryer and a iron/ironing board for your use. Extra pillows if you needed and room very clean. Complimentary shampoo/conditioner and body lotion and soap. So, my husband and I really appreciated all the hospitality given to us, and actually taken to the door and said goodbye to us, and said looked forward to our return. So, many thanks for everything.

Room Tip: Try and choose a seaview room.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your excellent review. Christmas is always special at the Whistledown and we like to make it extra special for our junior guests, hence the little teddy gifts etc. left in your room. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay. Kind regards.

I stay there regulary and always friendly greeting and warm rooms.
Restauarants are excellent and staff super efficent:)
Views from hotel of Warrenpoint Bay and Mourne mountains are spectacular - when the snow is on them, you could be fooled you are in Austria.
Best breakfast you will get anywhere.

Room Tip: All rooms are great as I stay there everu week and have being in most of them.

Stayed here for a family break over the half-term holidays and had a brilliant time. It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, cannot fault here in any way. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, telling us about all the Halloween activities in the area. We had a family room, it was a great size and really clean. Food was amazing. We ate in the pizzeria on the first night and the restaurant on the second night and everything was of a very high standard and very well presented. Will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Whistledown Hotel for 2 nights B+B. We were looked after from the time we arrived til the time we left. The staff were all very warm and welcoming. Whether they were reception, bar or restaurant staff it was the same welcome across the board. The double room was very comfortable and a good size. We ate in the lounge area for lunch and the Bistro for dinner. The quality of food was amazing and plenty of choice.

I would recommend this warm friendly hotel in a lovely location to anyone.

Okay, my title says it all... we'd a great arrival, looked after well checking in, given a nice room, with a Lough bay view which is fabulous... we'd seen few better... The biggest hang up is the Alcohol policy - the large Silver framed A4 size warning, if you get "caught" with alcohol from outside the hotel they'll fine you £100... really!? I've never seen this before... I often would have a glass of something nice I've brought with me... in this case we did respect the Hotels wishes, but it felt unnecessary and very Nanny State - I get the fact that if people buy bottles in the hotel it's a money spinner... but it has a busy bar which guests will use anyway...

Rooms are tidy (carpets a wee bit tired), the signature headboard lifts the rooms very well... breakfast is great - service across the hotel is very friendly and lots of smiles which is great, not trying to take itself seriously in this area... (So why waste time with that alcohol policy!!!)

One thing which I hope isn't linked to the above - we had a "Do not disturb" sign up, we didn't feel we'd messed the place up enough for the room service to be required, but the sign was removed and put on the inside and room was serviced.... we'd nothing to hide, but it did get my paranoia thinking... Please Whistledown get rid of this policy and I'm sure we'll be back, you are so close, have a great bar and Bistro... hopefully my full scores for you show this to be the case!
