“Quality Indian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

I visit approx 3-4 times a year, I have had Indian meals all over the UK and this is well above average. The food is varied and of a high standard,as well as reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and genuinely want you to enjoy your meal.

“Finally a dependable Curry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Another Weekend evening, another curry at the Bengal Spice.

We used to go to another Indian in Redcar fairly regularly, every two or three weeks, with the Sister and Brother-in-law. But the standards and the portions started dropping, so a move was required, so after a few tries, the Bengal became our 'local'. It is a 40 minute drive from home, so I drive and the lady wife drinks :(

Anyway this is supposed to be a review; We sometimes have a starter, the lady particularly recommends the King Prawn Puri, I'm partial to the Mixed Kebab, a bit of work needed in the Samosa, but the rest is good. Chicken Chatt is also pretty good.

Mains, I go for the South Indian Garlic Chicken, tons of garlic and 'sufficient' bit of chill (3 chilli), lady has Tandoori Chicken off the bone, well marinated meat tasty sauce. Sister in law goes for Shashi Shaslick, again nice sauce, (sometimes a bit hot, but they do take it back and make a milder one) Brother in Law goes for Jalfrezi or similar, he likes the HOT ones, he does suffer for his taste though.... sweating like a hog eating curry!

Good rice and excellent Garlic Nans... but the Sag Aloo needs work, more aloo than sag.

Staff friendly, nice clean restaurant, hot towels and after eights post meal.

Usual cost for 4, with a bottle of Red (Jack Rabbit), 3 Cobras and a Lime and Soda (I'm driving), around £65, well worth it.

“THE BEST VALUE INDIAN RESTAURANT......EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

Sunday and Thursday = 7.95 for 4 Course (inc popadoms with sauces, starter, rice, nan, vegtables, main, desert).

I visit here frequently and I seriously can not fault anything about it. The staff are friendly, the food is brilliant, and the value is unbelievable. I LOVE hot curries and they make a Phall especially for me as it's not on the menu (probably because most sensible people don't eat them)! You are provided with so much food, equivalent to the price of less than 2.5 ciders, I guarantee you won't have enough room to eat breakfast in the morning! And it is quality Indian food. Can not rate this business highly enough. Pity Trip Advisor only has 5 stars !!!!
