“Good Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Only stayed one Friday night. However, this is a very friendly dog oriented place. We eat there a lot in the summer and have always been pleased, especially when looking at the view from the beer garden. This was our first overnight stay, food & service good, our first experience of breakfast there and it was excellent. We had our dog with us and there were no problems, will be booking again.

Stayed here on business for one night and was delighted with my stay. Check in was quick and easy with very friendly staff who showed me to my room! Room was lovely, well furnished with a bright and new en suite shower room. The room had all of the normal amenities but was more personalised than a 'chain' hotel would be. The location of the Hotel in Bishops Castle is perfect for the towns shops and restaurants and it also has easy and ample car parking. Didn't eat here on the night but the menu looked really good and some of the food that I saw being served to other diners looked lovely. Breakfast was superb, hot, beautifully cooked and presented with very attentive service from the guy looking after us in the breakfast room. All in all, a real delight, great value, and I would definitely stay here again.

I recently stayed for three nights with a group of 7 men on our annual trip to the Welsh borders. This is the second occasion that we have stayed at the Castle Hotel. It's the sort of small, privately owned hotel one always hopes to find. The building is full of character. The service is unfailing friendly, professional and accommodating - not always easy with a large group intent on having a good time.....Breakfasts are first rate. Choice and quality of dinners menus to a high standard. Excellent value. We hope to come again.

We are an elderly couple in need of a short break in a first class hotel. Reading the reviews of others led us to The Castle. We were not disappointed. Our room was warm and well appointed. A supremely comfortable king size bed welcomed us; The shower was powerful and hot, the towels large, snowy white and rough - just as we like them! Some rooms also have a huge bath in the bedroom- should be exiting. A nearly new TV/radio provided a wide channel choice with very good reception. Three fine log fires in the bars burnt all day long and we relaxed with our books before them. Breakfasts and dinners proved to be first class with a fine variety of dishes excellently prepared. Service in all departments was fine. We felt that all members of staff were dedicated to providing for the comfort of their clients. Thy could not be blamed for the appalling weather to which we were treated. In such circumstances we could .not have wished for a better place to stay and the beers from several local micro-breweries were great; a bonus which set the seal on our stay. Any suggestions for improvement? Perhaps thought could be given to the possibility of developing part of one of the bar areas as a snug with really comfortable armchairs with reading lights. Any warnings? The management clearly point out that no one who cannot climb stairs should consider staying there. They are right to do so!.

Room Tip: We found room 1 to be pleasantly quiet. There is,, however, no view from this room. Beware the sharp...

Have just returned from a weekend break staying for two very enjoyable nights at The Castle. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us but it didn't spoil the wonderful welcome from the staff and the very comfortable stay. The hotel had a lovely cosy feel, the food was good quality and everyone was very friendly. Our room looked like it had only recently been decorated and had a spacious well equipped bathroom.

The hotel was well situated to go walking and take in the beautiful scenery.

Expect something a cut above the average for the room and service.
A modern bathroom, good bed and our room was one of two that have an extra bath - in the bedroom!
Food in the evening was good and breakfast was a well cooked breakfast with a help yourself table of cold things.
Helpful service.
