“Beautiful and Relaxing Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2009

We spent three days in November at the Copamarina Resort. At that time of year, it was very relaxing and quiet. We enjoyed the beautiful beach and pools and most of the time pretty much had the resort to ourselves. It is a nice, small quiet resort with friendly and helpful staff. Our room was one of the older rooms, was basic but was clean and fine for us. Each room has it own little patio. The food was excellent at both of the restaurants, although as other reviewers have noted, it is a touch pricey. The staff are outstanding and went out of their way to please the guests. This resort is a good base to see the south of Puerto Rico. The gym although small had all of the equipment for a good workout. There is also a self serve washer and dryer at the resort. All in all we had a great time and would love to return.

This ridiculously expensive hotel has beautifully manicured grounds, but the good part ends out there. One wishes the grounds manager would take over the whole operation. The ocean view rooms are large, with a nice view, but poorly maintained, with derelict furniture and non-functional equipment. The beach has murky water, full of seaweed, and is only pleasant if you are a non-discriminating toddler. The swimming pools are also shallow, good for very small kids. Forget about snorkeling, you must hire a boat. The bar charges outrageous prices for forgettable breakfasts, Folgers like- coffee described as expresso, local beer and anything else. The restaurant is better, but not a great value.
If you want to visit Guanica's dry forest (which is worth the trip) come, spend a few hours and leave.

Copamarina is situated on a lovely stretch of beach, and during the time we were there, it was quiet and serene. The rooms were serviceable and clean, the grounds are lush and manicured, there are several pools to hang out by, and it was utterly relaxing. The only downsides were 1) there's basically nothing else to do in Guanica or the close surrounding towns, 2) the food generally took a long time to arrive, and was decent but nothing to rave over (apparently they used to have a great chef, but he or she has since departed, and there are no other places to eat in the vicinity). But other than that, it was a fabulous time.

I stayed in one of the remodeled rooms last visit. The remodeled rooms are very nice. The rooms that have not been remodeled are nice and comfortable, but not as nice as renovated rooms. The property manager, Mariel, is a very nice professional woman. The property is well suited for honeymooners, families, or individuals who just want to get away for some peace and quiet. The beach is calm and the grounds are well manicured and easy for anyone to maneuver around. Guilligan's Island is a short but beautiful boat ride away. Pack some sandwiches and drinks, take a raft and snorkeling gear, and have a wonderful day - but go early during high tourist season. Ocean view and sunsets are beautiful! The hotel is about 20 - 30 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in Southwest PR. I have stayed at Copamarina several times in both remodeled and not remodeled rooms and have enjoyed every minute. The bar and resturant both have very good food. I've never had a bad meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. In fact, I take my guests from the U.S. to enjoy lunch and/or dinner because the atmosphere is excellent and the quality of the food is too. Yes, I live in Boqueron, PR. Retired here one year ago. I go to Copamarina to relax and escape my daily routine, and I have a magnificant ocean view from my home. The bottom line is that if you are a party animal, go to San Juan. But if you're looking for quiet, peaceful accommodations where you can escape from stress and relax, this is the place. Recommend that you ask for a renovated room if one is available because there is a difference. The pools are nice and clean and large enough for those who like to swim for exercise. It is a great place to stay and tour the Northwest and Southwest areas of PR. Recommend an SUV for traveling to some beach areas because the paved roads sometimes end and you travel through pot hole ridden dirt roads to park and walk to the beach. For instance, the scenery at the Cabo Rojo lighthouse and the adjacent, absolutely beautiful Playa Sucia (beach) can be difficult to get to in a car. Enjoy your visit to PR!

Copamarina Beach Resort Hotel is undoubtedly and undisputedly one of the best hotels in Puerto Rico. I have stayed there on multiple ocassions with my best friends and boyfriend and had a marvelous time. It is a place where you breathe tranquility and peace, having time to just relax, lay back and spend quality time with yourself and your thoughts AND your loved ones... amazing! This is what I call a healthy, true to itself, vacation.

-Rooms are cozy, clean, pretty, well-themed... not to mention incredibly spacious. They invite you to be at pleasure with yourself.........

-Their restaurant has got a sociable, efficient staff. Excellent food and service.

-Multiple romantic, private spots to enjoy with your significant other.

-Beach is quite interesting and beautiful. They have curtained beds placed in the sand.

-They take you to Gilligan Island which is a must when you visit Guanica.

-It is a few steps away from Ballena Beach which has got a magic of its own.

-Loved the pool and the jacuzzi!

We loved Copamarina and are planning a trip back soon. Besides the pools, the ocean and the lovely food we had a wonderful hike in the dry forest across the street. We loved how it did not feel like a big resort...

One of our favorite things was the peaceful evenings. We could enjoy a late dinner, a then a drink while the kids played and then a walk together on the beach.

Please don't ever put a casino here...it is perfect...

My sister and I have been planning this wedding for over a year now. She went to visit and immediately feel in love with the resort. The Resort is absolutely beautiful. The ground are stunning. Rooms huge (and I've traveled a lot), spacious with a stunning view of the ocean. They have 2 good size pools. The beach is 5 ft from the pool. Beautiful, blue, calm ocean. Perfect for little ones. Fly in to either Ponce or Aguadilla Airports. The ride to the hotel is a lot shorter then flying into San Juan.

The Event Planner at the Resort was on point. We working via email for months until 2 days I arrived before the wedding (By the way.. I was the wedding planner and sister of the bride). As soon as my husband and I got there Thursday afternoon they welcomed us with open arms. Our rooms were ready. We checked in and we were off to our room. The Event planner immediately heard I was checking in and came to introduce herself. She prepared the rest of the day to show me around the hotel.

We had a king size bed, refrigerator, iron, safe, and hair dryer in our room. We even had breakfast table and sofa that sit 3 adults comfortably... with plenty of room to walk around and not trip over your luggage. Yup that's how big the rooms are. Not your typical standard hotel room.

The wedding was October 10, 2009. 48 guests flew in from practically every where and arrived in Puerto Rico from different airports. The hotel had directions on their website which we sent all of the guests. Everyone rented their own cars and drove to the hotel. Everyone was so pleased with the directions. Considering the fact that we had some guests which never been to Puerto Rico before... driving can be a little tricky. NO ONE GOT LOST!

Sorry I can't comment on the restaurants because I was too busy planning for the wedding. I did hear from the guests that the food was good...but wished it has more of the authentic food served in PR. Prices are reasonable!

The day of the wedding. Ceremony was at 5pm (sunset). Cocktail hour and Reception was immediately following the ceremony. Couldn't ask for a better day. Everyone who was assigned to help out for the wedding was great. We changed the details of the reception several times and the staff was there working with us.

We set up the room / centerpieces, decorations and it looked amazing. Just check out the pictures.

The ceremony was absolutely breath taking. The food at the cocktail hour and reception was really good. (no I'm serious) It was really, really good. My sister picked appetizer / salad and for the main course Filet Mignon and Lobster tail.

The best man also surprised the groom with a Cigar Roller. I think I'm saying that right. Well he hired a person which rolls fresh cigars and it was which was a huge hit.

The wedding was the event of the year. Everyone had so much fun. Thank you again to the CopaMarina Resort for making it a truly memorable wedding.
