“Calm and cosseting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We were delighted to spend a week here. We had expected high quality accommodation and we were not disappointed. The room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a sizeable ensuite. The balcony of our spacious first floor room offered a view over the pool and into the hills. There's a useful drying rail here for towels and swimming costumes too. The accommodation price includes breakfast by the pool. There is plenty of variety here; cereals, yoghurt, cold meat and cheese, cake and jam- though it would have been nice to have fruit available. This area doubles as a bar and was open until 4 each day during our stay. Marieta, who took care of us all week, is thoroughly charming and couldn't have been more helpful.
The large pool is surrounded by sun loungers with parasols. The hotel seems quiet in May; for the first two days we had the place to ourselves-even later in the week only three of the nine rooms were occupied. The hotel's location was ideal for us as we prefer not to be on top of the bars and restaurants; we could walk down to the seafront in about 15 minutes. There's mini market five minutes walk away. The only minor irritation during our stay was a vociferous cockerel at a nearby farm, who appeared to have lost his sense of time! However, he didn't manage to spoil our stay. This is a hotel we would certainly return to.

Room Tip: I would go for a first or second floor room. They have better views.

Our stay was truly memorable. All we wanted was week of total relaxation, days by the pool and relaxed dining in the evening - w got exactly that.
The accomodation is first class and maintained to a high level. Lunches were available if needed and were very satisfying. We visited in May and was only half full, with other guests, both British and Greeks, spent the days out, so most days we had the pool to ourselves - bliss!
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms top class. Higher rooms obviously have better views, but wouldn't be disappointed in a...

This has to be one of the most laid-back hotels we've ever stayed in, which is a good thing if you're self-sufficient and maybe not so good if you need to staff to help you enjoy your holiday. Slightly hidden away, but only a ten minute walk away from the beach, this nine-bedroom hotel aspires to spa status, and the fact that it doesn't quite make it is okay if you have a realistic expectation of what a small hotel on the island can offer. There was a comprehensive welcome pack and a good sized pool. The breakfasts were okay (bread, mud coffee and fruit) but there's plenty of eating places around and about (choose carefully to avoid the Brits-abroad, we enjoyed Persas down the road). The hotel could take children, but those contemplating taking the little ones may want to ask how appropriate it might be, this is really an adults hotel, perfect for peaceful reading by the lovely pool.

We went mid `September and only four rooms were occupied, which added to the sense of exclusivity, and the weather was unseasonably hot - in fact air-con defyingly hot as ours broke down on the last day and it said a lot about the place that we tried to report it but couldn't rouse anyone before we had to go to catch our plane!

Room Tip: All as good as each other really, some have wider balconies.

I just wanted to share the wonderful experience we had when we stayed here for a week. Having visited Kefalonia previously and Greece on a number of occasions, accommodation can be basic. This was far from the case at Villa dei Sogni which is a beautiful villa set in semi-rural surroundings. The quality of the rooms and furnishings is to a high standard and the bathrooms are very well equipped. However, I would certainly recommend that people take their own hairdryer as the one provided was a little on the slow side.
Breakfast was served in the pool bar and there was a good variety to suit all, with fresh fruit available.
Sofia, the manager, was efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The pool area was kept clean and the pool itself had little chlorine in and was a very good size.
When we stayed there were no children and I would say that this is primarily a place for adults as I can imagine that children would feel to constricted given the peace and tranquility the villa affords.

We chose this villa because it has comfortable rooms, a luxury for a greek island and not typical of greek accomodation, which tends to be very basic. We also chose this villa because it only has 9 rooms and thought this would mean a very peaceful holiday, well this was the case during the first week, however this changed once the owners family arrived. When I booked I asked to be on the top floor and thought this would be the case, however the owner lives on the top floor. So during second week in Kefalonia we were often woken by noise coming from above in the mornings, which was not good considering we like to lie in.

Sofia is very friendly, but her hospitality also goes to her friends who would turn up for the day and use the pool. I really don't think this is a good way to run a business, especially when you have paying guests who pay a premium to have peace and quiet.

However, the villa is beautiful, but to make it exclusive, it needs to be for paying guests only just like the sign indicates at the entrance. We a very fussy and hard to please and our expectations were very high.

Kafelonia is a beautiful island and you really need to hire a car. We were really disppointed with Katelios which is described as a village with a beautiful beach, unfortnately this is not the case and it is a small tourist resort with a dusty beach and several taverns with average food. So we visited places such as Fiscardo and Assos which are beautiful and traditional fishing villages.

Highly recommended, Sofia is a perfect hostess always happy to help. The rooms are faultless and very well presented although we didn't get the Ouzo! The pool is a good size and perfectly maintained daily and breakfast is great. There are only 9 rooms so it is never busy, ideal for couples and maybe very small children. Good selection of reastaurants within a short walk and beaches within a short drive. We will be back.

We had a very nice relaxing week here. The rooms are very well done; not the usual basic greek apartment - nice little extras (the mini bottle of ouzo went down a treat). They were also kept spotless.

Pool was also spot on - clean, and not busy. There are (I think) 9 rooms - so never many people there.

It is a quiet spot, and it's a 10 minute walk to town - wouldn't go there with children, but for a week of just lying around and occasionally eating, it was perfect.

Sofia is also a lovely host - she brought me beers at 11.30 at night when we arrived after a late flight! Nice.

Kefalonia is a beautiful island - although Katelios is at the far end from the really pretty towns - getting on for 2 hours to Fiskardo, but it's nice countryside to drive through.

Recommendations - get a car! After a few days of pool lounging, it's nice to be able to get to another village - Skala is not far away.

Overall - perfect for a relaxing week.
