“Amazing views, people and experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2014

We had reservations for 3 days in Anzio but, we were disappointed so we checked out after one day and found this place on online. It is a gem! We booked one night and then the next day booked another. It was the end of the season (literally they were closing in a week) so we were somewhat nervous that the restaurant and staff would be check out (get it ;) but this was not the case at all. We were one of two couples staying there the first night and then others joined the next.
The first night we had dinner there and it was amazing. We told the waiter we liked fish and pasta and to order for us. Well, the food just kept coming and it was all wonderful. We did have to tell him to stop though as it was just too, too much but it was all so good. Everyone that worked there was so attentive and kind.
The location is beautiful with the sun rising every morning between the two palm trees right outside our balcony. The Porto is within walking distance so there is lots of boats and some shops/restaurants close by plus the there is a little beach which was beautiful.
Feeling so lucky to have stumbled upon this place and have such a great experience and memories.

This was our third visit and we are pleased to say that little has changed. Friendly people, comfortable rooms, brill pool, lovely terrace restaurant and perfect outlook from rooms and terrace. A totally relaxed ten days in an interesting part of the country. It is a strain to move from the restaurant and the poolside but the town is great and again everyone is friendly. Please don't change anything. We will be back next year. Already looking forward to meeting everyone again!

My husband and I stayed here for six nights after a hectic, humid week in Rome and it was just what we needed to recuperate! Our room was enormous (and typically Italian with a mix of antique furniture with modern comfy bed and marble bathroom) with lots of well designed wardrobe space, beautifully clean and the view was simply jaw dropping - we not only had a sea view but our room was actually just above the sea! The murmur of the waves lulled us to sleep and to open the patio door to the balcony and see the sun dancing on the waves in the morning was a joy (it was also wonderful to sit on the balcony after a hard day by the pool sipping prosecco and watching the boats go by ...). The salt water pool overlooking the sea was perfect, as was the private beach, and staff were attentive and friendly. Our Italian was almost non-existent but some staff spoke English and those that didn't went out of their way to help. Very good Italian food was served (although this was not cheap - prepare yourself for 30 - 50 euros per person) and not a pizza or buger in sight - however if you want this (or cheaper food) other restaurants and bars are a short walk away at the nearby port or by the local beach. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet, restful break in a beautiful setting, with lots of well prepared and presented traditional Italian food and lovely staff - we miss it already and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and sea view

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife in mid July. Got a sea view room and we couldn't fault the place. This hotel is ideal if you are looking for some peace and quiet, it is beautifully located away from the crowds.

The salt pool area is just perfect, you can easily walk to the local restaurants and bar in the port area and the staff are helpful.

The hotel is old, don't expect modern fixtures and fittings, but it all adds up to the charm of the place.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room

Stayed with friends for 2 nights, we meeting people with a rented home in Circeo. After alot of confusion about on-line prices, many phone calls to the hotel and explaining about an upgrade for customer service, it all worked out good.
The place is old, needs a good clean up job and some decluttering if you want something new and expenisve looking. We were there at the end of May-beginning of June. Gardens at the back need a good clean up too. Especially off to the side. Price in our room double with one bathroom is a bit outdated € 750.00!! I do not think so.........not even close. We paid alot lot less. Not bad for what we got! Breakfast was a bit boring but a few home made cakes.
The best thing about this place.......are the people. The couple at the front desk were Fantastic and helpful, cleaning ladies all very friendly, poolman was always busy......and our waiters...they helped make our stay very nice.
We still don't know what happened at the restaurant......Saturday small portions at lunch, Sunday they made up for it. But once again not cheap....
I am sure it was gorgeous in its younger days.......

Thank you for sharing your experience with us also on Tripadvisor. We take the chance to thank you for the good score you gave us on Booking.com (8.3). Of course the two reviews says almost the same things and our answer will be the same with only one little clarification I think we owe to Tripadvisors users. You didn't book any special deal with us, you had an upgrade instead, a free " extra special customer service", as you called it in your e-mail, an upgrade you asked with such a kind and urgent insistence that we couldn't say no. So you had 2 rooms of the 3-rooms/2bathrooms apartment (for 7 people) with sea view and balcony instead of the backyard rooms with no sea view and no balcony that you booked at 200.00 euros per night on booking.com. In any case if you had booked the apartment you would have paid 370, not 750 euros, which is the high season maximum rate for the whole apartment with 7 people occupancy.
I am sorry that you wasted so much time trying to understand the difference between the description you found on booking.com website and the descriptions available on our website. As you probably know, in order to describe a room and its facilities on booking.com hotel management has to select the check boxes in a list, so the result is not as clear as it should be, especially when you have (as we have) 8 different room types. Of course on our website you can find a more exhaustive description of the rooms and you also find some room type you don't find on booking.com.
Reading your review on tripadvisor I finally understood what you meant writing about the ill-kept gardens you wrote about on booking.com. Well the side garden is not a garden at all, it's a dam of defense of public property. We have already filed a request for authorization to redecorate the whole area and we hope to carry out the work next winter.
We look forward to have you here next spring to check our improvements and we guarantee your "extra special customer service" from now.
Thank you for the compliments you addressed to our staff and see you soon.

Stayed in this beautiful location in September for 9 nights with a group of 54 people. Located on the seafront with its own little beach and a 25m seawater pool. A family run hotel where the food was of high quality, lovingly prepared in the traditional Italian manner.
Situated on the sea at the edge of San Felice National Park.
Unfortunately while we were there there was a local transport strike so access was difficult to the adjacent towns for our not so young group.
The staff were helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are excellent

We spent 10 wonderful days at this hotel in July 2013. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the pricing was good and the facilities were perfect for our family as there are connecting rooms available. There is a massive pool which our kids loved. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building and the rooms are certainly old style. However they are cleaned daily and to be honest we only slept in them. We had an amazing view from our balcony.
The staff didn't speak much English, but they always got us what we wanted and were really helpful and friendly. It was the same in most of the restaurants in the area, as I think the area caters for mostly Italian tourists. There is also direct beach access from the pool area of the hotel.
We are an Australian family with kids aged 9, 7 and 5 and would recommend it to anybody.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Maga Circe is a traditional 4 star family run hotel in Lazio, set in the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast, a hundred kilometers south of Rome, in the splendid Circeo National Park. Our hotel lies in a quiet, residential area, at the foot of the Circeo promontory and not far from the famous sandy beach of San Felice. The area is so beautiful that, according to the tradition, in Thirties it was chosen to build a large villa by one of Benito Mussolini's son, Bruno. The rooms of our hotel offer a breathtaking view: they are all overlooking the promontory or the sea. Well furnished and comfortable, they are equipped with TV, mini-bar and air conditioning; many rooms even have a panoramic balcony. You can also enjoy our large swimming pool with sea water and our little private sandy access to the sea shore. And besides all this, our hotel offers a large terrace, a beautiful veranda for your business meetings, a large hall for your receptions and events, a nice room with a cozy fireplace to warm your winter evenings...
