“Best place to stay in Shantiniketan/Prantik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

I visited this resort in Dec 2013 along with my family. The hotel ambience is very good. The manager and other staffs are very polite and cordial. The food is superb. The room tariff is also reasonable. Rooms are quite decent (if not premium) considering the tariff.
We all enjoyed staying there. The surrounding is full of greenery inside the hotel campus. On request they can arrange for camp fire along with folk dance and baul songs inside the hotel campus. One shoud experience that for sure. You can get the feel of the ranga-maatir desh along with peaceful environment.

Only flip side is that, it is bit far away from Shantiniketan. So better if you have your own car or you may hire it from hotel (they provide).

Though the name and the website has an inviting overture to it, after staying in it for 3days the inclination is rather towards disappointment than contentment. Every good thing about the hotel has a 'but' to it. To start of the staffs are extremely friendly and willing to serve well, but since they are too few in numbers, they find it difficult to match up, especially if its tourist season. The food is good and tasty, but too spicy. We had to give specific instructions several times to eat to our specifications (of less spicy). Morning tea has to be given a go-by if u need to leave early for somewhere like Kankalitala Mandir, Tarapith or Basanta Utsav. The garden is nice, soothing and refreshing but a bit more space could be spared for the rooms rather than the garden, which leaves narrow spaces in the room to walk around. Rooms are newly done up, but lacks aesthetics. Its far from the hustle bustle of tourist friendly spots, but the Prantik rail station in its vicinity makes sleeping at night bit difficult. Atleast 20 trains choose to traverse the Prantik Station Line overnight.
If I ever go back and stay at R.G.R. it will be only because of the honesty & dedication of the staffs and the friendly owner. I hope the young Garden (resort) does well with age!

Rangamati Garden Resort is located very near to Prantik railway station and located in a sublime surrounding with lot of greenery and beautiful garden. The hotel service is very good and attendants take good care. Food is hygienic and healthy. However, there is no supply of 'Tawa Roti'. It should be made available because customers always do not prefer ' Tandoori Roti' type of bread. Besides morning tea is served late. May be due to less number of employees. The hotel is two years old and I hope it will come of in time. Transport facilities available on payment of hire charges for taxi and rickshaw. Auto service has not developed in this area. One can easily visit Santiniketan (by rickshaw and taxi), Tarapith ( train and taxi) and Bakreswar hot spring (taxi) from the resort.

We liked the pictures of the resort on the website and were really disappointed to see the place.
It is an average hotel, and certainly not a garden resort. The rooms are okay in size but the sheets and towels are old and faded. The bed creeks and they do not have extra sheets for the blankets. The taps in the bathroom leak, the basin is very small and light in the bathroom inadequate. The bathroom is always wet and the rooms become muddy because of the that. The food has to ordered in advance and the only redeeming grace is their service, which is surprisingly good. There is no swimming pool although there is a picture of one on their website.
