“A brilliant place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Cott Inn for the jubilee weekend with friends and had an excellent weekend.
A truely brilliant place to stay, a beautiful thatched pub with a sunny garden area to sit in when the sun puts in an appearance.
Modern, and clean, spacious bedrooms with one of the most comfortable beds In have slept in. Feels just like your own room at home.
The owner is very friendly and accomodating so a really good place to stay in and have drinks and dinner.
A real must place to stay if visiting Torbay or the South Hams area.
Make sure you visit!

Just back from three nights at the Cott. A perfect location if you want to explore the moors or head to the coast. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the staff very friendly and efficient. Mark, the owner, was always on hand if there were any questions that needed answering. All in all a highly enjoyable stay in a lovely pub.

As a local (I live 2 minutes down the road) I eat at the Cott a couple of times a month. The food is CONSISTENTLY very good. Since it has been taken over by the present owners, it has become my favourite pub / restaurant. Would like to correct a comment that states that the pub burnt to the ground and so is not 14th Century. The thatch caught fire and was replaced around 1989. The structure was unaffected and therefore it is a 14th Century pub. I appreciate nobody likes a "know all", but that is the fact. What a wonderful haunt to escape to! 5*

Me and my wife stayed and dined at the cott for our wedding anniversary. The manager went out of his way to help make it special, we each had three faultless causes in the bar area which had a lovely atmosphere with a good selection of wine and local ales. We will be returning to book a party in there private dining area, rooms have been tastefully done, nothing better than waking up to the sound of birds singing, great nights sleep. Thanks for a great evening!

Just had the fabulous fish and chips deal at the Cott Inn. It was delicious. The fish was tender and beautifully cooked in a light, crispy batter; the chips were 'real', home-made chips. In the wonderful surroundings that the Cott has to offer, along with Mark's usual, brilliant hospitality, we had a great evening. Recommend 100%.

We booked into The Cott Inn, with friends, for a few days to go to a wedding in the local area. It was fantastic, and we will certainly be making a return visit. The rooms had just been refurbished and were great. Very comfortable with nice big beds, beautifully decorated and with all of those extra touches that make a place special and memorable.... like fresh roses and chocolates! The food in the restaurant was amazing. I had one of, if not, the best steak, chips and the works that I have ever tasted.... and I'm still enthusing about it days later! Breakfast too was very tastey with once again all of those extra touches like fresh strawberries... as well as a very tastey fry up! The owners and staff were delightful, very professional and also went that extra mile to ensure our stay was memorable. As I said, we will definately be back and we would thoroughly recommend it.

My wife and i recently had an away weekend at the cott inn Dartington. On arrival we were greeted most pleasantly by the staff and shown to our recently refurbished room ,the whole inn is undergoing a long term investment program. We had a lovely lunch which set the tone for the remainder of our three night stay. The food throughout our stay was of the highest quality in both preparation and presentation and the pleasant staff went that extra yard to ensure our stay was a good one which it was indeed.Breakfast was super and certainly set you up for the day.I would heartily recommend the Cott Inn to all and sundry if they are visiting the area.It is an establishment that deserves its reputation as a fine example of a traditional inn serving good food and ales at realistic prices.Long may it prosper. We will certainly return With Friends.
