Stayed here for our wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.We payed extra to upgrade and were a little disappointed that the room was in the courtyard and not main hotel. However the room was very nice with a large bed and a well fitted bathroom with bath and separate shower.I was impressed they had put some flowers from the garden in the room with a card a very nice touch. The lady that booked us in was very welcoming and we were looking forward to dinner.
Again the young man serving on tables was very friendly As soon as he gave us the menu I knew that we should have left but we were tired It was a Sunday night and we did not want to drive as it was our anniversary and we both wanted to have some wine.
It was the most bizarre al a'carte menu I have ever seen especially the main courses
Most starters were £5.50, Mains £11.95, Puds £5.50.On the limited menu many had supplements. This would be fine if the food was of high quality
My husband had 1/2 an avacado with a few cherry tomatoes . How they think the price was justified I don't know. For a supposedly good restaurant we had a job to choose anything. The choices were 'gammon, egg and chips!, cold meats, olives and bread(main course)!!,sea-bass(£2 supplement),chicken escalope and 1 veggie dish.No steak, lamb, beef or pork,on a Sunday!
I chose chicken which was ok and my husband paid the extra for the sea-bass.It was not his day. After a tiny starter he was presented with an empty plate. The portion of fish was about 1 1/2" x 4" accompanied by a small parcel of green beens and a tiny potato rosti. We looked on in disbelief at £14 worth of nothing . This would have been an adequate as a starter. We complained, the very nice waiter agreed with us and brought my husband another meal that was even smaller!!!!It was embarrasing. To add insult to injury my husband ordered the cheese board, another supplement and we could not believe it. The board consisted of 3 tiny slivers of cheese with lots of biscuits.
The next morning we had an excellent breakfast albeit small. The second evening we did not book a table at the hotel and found the New-Inn at Westwood,a 5 minute drive. Well worth the trip.
What a shame the restaurant let our stay down. I'm sure they can do better because the proprietor was very apologetic when we checked out but with no offer of recompense.
Oh,and it is not in Bradford upon Avon. It's half way between Bradford and Trowbridge.

Unfortunately this stay was always going to end badly. From the moment the Treasures found themselves in an outside room we were doomed. As it was a quiet Sunday, we did have a couple of rooms left in the Manor but no one asked...........

All I will say is that we bent over backwards to accommodate them, bargain deal, flowers, card, good service, apologies. To paraphrase Mr Treasure's parting words "It's a lovely hotel, great staff, the sea bass was lovely, there just wasn't enough of it."
We have subsequently discovered that the fishmonger had sent the wrong sized bass fillets. Normally we serve one good sized fillet but that particular delivery required two. It was our fault and we failed to spot it at the time. We did however serve the guest a complete extra meal which probably was insufficient recompense, so please get in touch as we would like to offer a complimentary stay. In the main house
