5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

My hubby and I love Grassington and have been to many different places over the last 10 years until we found Grassington lodge! We have not been any ware else since 1998!. Diane is amazing the staff are faultless and the hotel rooms are number one. The breakfast is the best in the area with all fruit juices, all different cerials, an amazing full english with toast and jam/marmalade to follow! Each room is slightly different but very very nice.. We love it much that we booked my mum and dad in for a surprise 50th wedding anniversary last oct and they absolutely loved it . my hubby is 50 in November this year and I asked if he wanted to go abroad and his words were - NO grassingington lodge pleaseeeee.. Look forward to seeing you soon Diane and your lovely staff . love donna and Neil crossleyxxx

Hi Donna and Neil
Thank you so much for your comments and for you and your family being such 'devotees' of not only Grassington but The Lodge as well! Look forward to seeing you in November.
Kind regards
Diane

This was our third stay and we have been very pleased every time. It is a two-minute walk from the beautiful village square with its pubs, restaurants and shops. Very nice rooms, excellent 'Full Yorkshire' breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, fantastic views across Upper Wharfedale and the moors. Ian Harrison

4th time staying in this hotel, know the area due to family connections.
Have always found it wonderful and welcoming, having been put in the annexe every time I have come to be familiar with the room. Excellent facilities including Molton Brown in the bathroom!
Very welcoming staff, especially the gentleman who serves breakfast in the morning, he is always so cheerful.
Fab breakfast, generous portions and clearly home made.
I would definitely recommend Grassington Lodge

The rooms and hotel are immaculate and tastefully decorated. The hotel is well positioned in Grassington and has planty of parking. The breakfast was among the best, good selection in a pleasant dining room. the host was friendly and welcoming even to the point of an evening sherry. To fault this hotel would be a nit picking exercise. A well run establishment.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, there was very little to find fault with here. A warm welcome, with precise instructions about where and how to park from Dan, after which we were shown to our room. Room 1, a very pleasant room, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. The fresh milk and fridge were an added bonus. The bathroom was very compact, perhaps lacking in storage space for toiletries or towel rails but very clean with big fluffy white towels and Molton Brown toiletries, (available to purchase at reduced prices). There are two beautifully furnished lounges for guests, one with a television and large stock of DVDs. We enjoyed our breakfasts on both mornings, the choices weren't as extensive as we have encountered in hotels where we usually stay but we were very happy with what we had. My only complaint is our room was occasionally filled with the smell of cigarette smoke from staff smoking outside, not pleasant!

A 'glittering' review....thank you! As my staff are as committed to the comfort of guests as much as I am, your comments about the smoking have been taken on board and you may be able to take the credit for them giving up (I have failed in my attempts to persuade them to give up) so thank you!!
Kind regards
Diane

We had a one night stay after Diane managed to fit us in after a last minute request. A very nice welcome from Dan and although our room was a little compact it was beautiful and clean, with lovely interior decorations, so we instantly felt at home. There is also a lovely sitting room where you can relax with a complimentary sherry and magazines. Diane asks if you can give an indication of what time you will appear for breakfast on a timetable, and although I can totally understand why she does it- to give everyone a chance of having good service and good food at breakfast time we did find it a bit restrictive as when it came to the morning, we didn't feel like being up at 9.15 , the time we had stated, but felt we had to be up and down!! Again Diane states that if you are late of course you will be fitted in and still have breakfast so it's just a little quibble , that and the fact that our sausages and bacon , tomatoes and mushrooms tasted pre cooked and therefore a bit dry,BUT it passed my personal test - proper bread, not sliced plastic rubbish and butter NOT in those horrible little foil packets , so well done!
Diane was lovely when she heard it was our wedding anniv and that we had had a disaster the night before when eating out and she presented us with a gift wrapped bottle of Molton Brown hand lotion!! What a treat! So overall, a lovely little B and B and well done Diane in keeping your lovely house totally up to date and beautifully welcoming.

Thank you for your review and I hope that in some way we helped to make your break enjoyable after having had such a disappointing experience at a local pub. The breakfast sheet is really only to try and avoid a long wait in the event of a possible 26 guests coming for breakfast at one time. You quite rightly state that if you are later than booked it is not a problem for us! We hope to see you again.
Kind regards
Diane

Grassington Lodge is perfectly located in the village only a few yards from the main street (with a passageway that leads from the main street to the side of the building). It a beautifully decorated interior, very clean and well maintained. The decor, fittings, furnishings, and art on the walls is all some of the most tasteful ever encountered in a guest house type accommodation. The bathroom was very small but this is normal for a converted house like this where space is at a premium. The breakfast is of a good standard. Whilst the bed and bedding was of good quality unfortunately it was the type of bed that "bounces" very strongly and the slightest movement causes a ripple effect rather like a water bed. Many accommodation providers choose this kind of mattress thinking that the softer the "feel" the more that guests will appreciate it, whereas for a healthy comfortable sleep a much firmer mattress is required. Little sleep was possible and we had to depart a day earlier than booked and paid for and return home so that a good night's sleep could be obtained. A shame really because in all other respects this is a good quality guest house.

Room Tip: Apparently there is a twin bedded room. This was not available for our booking. If like us movement...

Disappointed of course that you didnt sleep well but glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay nevertheless. On the promotion you had booked, twin bedded rooms are not available which, as you suggested, may have suited you better. I hope you will consider staying with us again but please ring me directly so that I can advise on which rooms are twin bedded and have firmer mattresses.
Thank you for your review.
Kind regards
Diane
