“Great food”

Service was great, all food freshly made, a good choice of food, hot and cold and a great choice of teas and coffee. A must visit.

“Tea Shop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

This is a great little tea/coffee shop. We found it crammed with locals (which I think says it all) but they still managed to find us a spot in a back room. The snack was great and good value for money, the tea was good but the coffee was outstanding. Service was excellent

“Give it a try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Despite some indifferent reviews from other folk, we found service at the Whimsical Cafe to be very good. Despite being busy, they found us a table, all staff were willing, pleasant and helpful. The smoked trout soup was delicious and my husband really enjoyed the potato and leek soup. Do give it a try - I hope your experience will be as good as ours!

“left feeling annoyed when there are so many other places to chose from”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Oh dear, such a shame when people run food establishments who have no passion for the products they produce.
My partner had a latte that burnt his tongue and inside of his mouth, which blistered later on in the day, now having used `coffee care' myself for beans I know that they give free barista training so no excuse for this. We asked the young girl if she had used a thermometer and she replied yes?????? confused then why she used scalding hot milk, this obviously ruined the coffee.
I made the mistake of ordering a ploughman's, it just amazes me how some people interpret a ploughman's...is it really that difficult, the only thing they got right was 1/2 a pork pie and some pickle. 3 thin slices of apple, a slice of bread, iceberg lettuce, slice of tomato, thin slices of pepper and radish and 2 chunks of crumbly cheese which I think might have been Lancs hardly any taste to it. There was nothing wrong with the food it just wasn't a ploughman's.
Partner had ham and cheese toastie, which was what came.
As for the staff a smile wouldn't have gone a miss, no happy staff here. Couldn't believe an older woman cleared my partners plate whilst I was still eating, I hate that it's SO rude. Funny though no-one cleared my empty plastic water bottle that sat at the edge of the table the whole time we were there. This older woman (other 2 staff were teenagers) then proceeded to be rude to some young girls who came and sat at a table whilst their parents were outside, just cringe worthy.
When we left, around £17 lighter, I was just really annoyed we had walked past some lovely looking places and had opted for this.
Can't actually believe we paid for the coffee. oh well lesson learnt.
Could be really nice with staff training, attitude changes and a cook who is passionate about food.
