Could not believe our luck at choosing to stay at this wonderful B & B in the heart of Grassington. Everything about it was just brilliant and the hosts, Bev and Bill, were so welcoming and so knowledgeable about the Dales. We were staying for the weekend and Bev took the trouble to phone us, before our stay, to recommend booking at the local eateries as she was aware they would get booked quickly as it was such a busy time. She even offered to book for us - very kind and thoughtful. The breakfasts at
Croft House were very very good and set you up for the day. The rooms were absolutely spotless and very comfortable. I fell in love with the house, it was so homely and friendly.
We ate at the Foresters on the Saturday and the meal was very good with plenty of it. On the Sunday we ate at "Number 5", could not fault it, superb meal and the waiters were particularly attentive (this made it a bit special as it was my husbands birthday).
We couldn't fit the Devonshire Arms in but other guests at The Croft recommended it so we will be going sometime in the future.
Went Pony Trekking at the Kilnsey Trekking Centre (about 3 miles from Grassington) on our last day in the Dales A bit daunting as both my husband and myself are 60 and are complete novices - enjoyed every minute of it, the views which were fantastic , the lovely ponies (Sooty was mine - or I was his, not sure - and he did his own thing but took care of me). It took a while to be able to walk properly afterwards (!) but would recommend it to anyone. The girls from the stables were so friendly and made sure everyone enjoyed themselves.
Can't wait to go back to Grassington. The Croft is the only place we will be staying.
