“The only way to experience Clarens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

My wife and I spent the weekend of 7 - 9 June in Clarens, and based on recommendations of friends we chose Lake Clarens Guest House. Absolutely stunning rooms, warm and friendly service by the unforgettable host, Bruce, and a beautiful view of the town's entrance, lake and stunning mountains. The breakfast included was varied and very tastey, and we spent the morning lazing in the winter sun and enjoying the food and hospitality. The town square is just a 100m up the road, so we strolled up to take in the town in the afternoons.

The restaurant next door (The Artichoke) was nice and close to the guesthouse, allowing us to enjoy the good food and company until late in the evening and not worry about getting back. Simply a perfect way to enjoy Clarens.

Looking forward to going back in the summer to experience more of the surrounding areas.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room, which was secluded enough to make us perfectly comfortable, but nice and cl...

We were at the Lake Clarence Guesthouse this weekend of 21-22 June. What a nice experience! The room was spacious, tidy and clean. They spioled us with a heater, warm blanket and even underfloor heating. The welcome was so friendly and the staff are sharp and ready to assist at anytime. The breakfast Saturday morining was very nice. Such a lot to choose from and everything was tastefully prepared. Thank you for a very pleasant weekend!!! We'll definately see you again, and we'll bring friends too.

Room Tip: Room 2 and 3 i would definately suggest, although i must say, I havent seen the rest of the rooms...

We were in Clarens to meet some old friends and our experience at Lake Clarens Guest house really rounded off a great time. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was excellent and the table setting outside with the morning sun warming us, made for a long relaxing breakfast with friends.

This is my favorite place in Clarens due to its mountains views, charming interior, peaceful nature and location next to a small lake with animals (feels a bit like on a farm). Short walking distance to main square.

Lovely views on breakfast sitting on the veranda in the sun and flower garden.

The founder and owner Bruce is a character. He also runs the excellent Artichoke restaurant next door with good steak and vegetarian options.

I full I also like 278 on Main.

I travelled trough the whole country and had just no better accommodation than at Lake Clarens Guest House. Very nice equipped room, large bathroom, and snacks for free. The breakfast was very delicious made and served by friendly staff. The owner, Bruce, has much knowledge of the area around and recommended also a trip to Lesotho, which was really worthy. And that for Clarens is a perfect "homebase". I really enjoyed this guest house and extended my stay from one to three nights, because of the good conditions, Thank you again!

Clarens is a nice place to visit and the Lake Clarens Guest House a terrific place to stay. The owner, Bruce, couldn't have been more considerate. Each room was gorgeous, but when my daughter wanted to swap he did not bat an eye. He helped us with maps and directions, as well as include some of the delicious muffins to go. What a nice guy and he went the extra mile at every turn. An incrediable breakfast, which we actually photographed, out on a patio overlooking the lake. Great hiking right out the front door. If I ever get the chance to return to South Africa,I would definately stay here.

Room Tip: My daughter and I visited a bit off season, and there were a number of available rooms, each more be...
