We stayed here for one night in a standard room. The price was mid range, so not too bad but you would expect a little bit more for such a price. The hotel makes an effort to look "fancy" in the lobby and so on but does not quite match this image when you get past appearances.
Our room was on the small side but clean and modern looking. However, the bathroom had some issues. There was a sign saying that no hot water would come from the shower, only from the tap on the left. However, no hot water ever came from this tap, even when we left it on for a long time. We tried the tap on the right just in case, but no luck. For the price, you would expect hot water to be easily accessible.
Staff are friendly and polite, but service is a little off. First it took quite a time to check in as they seemed unsure of what they were doing. Secondly, they had a habit of always asking us if we would be eating breakfast/lunch/dinner/whatever or having our room cleaned, and they would ring up the room repeatedly to ask this so it was annoying. But on the whole, they seemed like nice people, just over eager.
Location is pretty good, slap bang in the middle of the Golghar shopping area. This is very close to the train station, the main bus station (good for visiting Kushinagar) and also close to City Mall if you fancy going to a multiplex cinema (there are also other non-multiplex cinemas very near by). We thought decent food options in the area were a little thin on the ground - mostly fast food joints and hotel restaurants. But you can always walk up towards the bus station if you need cheap food like poori-sabzi, litti-chokha, etc. Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food there.
One final issue is that we asked whether they could do a half day and they told us they would have to charge full price. This was a little annoying as travelling with my mother, it's more comfortable for her to be able to take rest and use the bathroom in the hotel so I do like to keep the room until close to our train time. In this case I chose to keep the room just for her comfort, but had a bad taste left in my mouth as it was not like the hotel was so full we would be taking a room away from another customer.
On the plus side, they do offer free pick up and drop off. Yes, it is so close to the station it is barely needed, but actually we decided on a whim to make use of this service as we left and they were able to arrange a car in the five minutes or so it took us to pay and check out.
Overall, it's an ok place to stay but nothing special and a little overpriced. If you have to stay just one or two days, I think it would be comfortable enough and has some advantages in terms of location and staff attitude. However, if you were going to be staying a long time you might be more comfortable and get your money's worth elsewhere.
