“Highly recomended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

Ian collected us from the airport and didn’t seem at all miffed even after our 18 hour delay. As he drove us to their home in the beautiful area of Alftanes, Ian pointed out various points of interest and told interesting stories.
On arrival we were treated to the full Icelandic breakfast which was a taste of things to come. After we had settled in, Ian & Frances took us on a whistle stop tour of the local highlights and tourist spots. My husband enjoys rally driving in his spare time so was keen to see (and experience) the roads used in Rally Reykjavik, in which Ian participates every year. Ian will organise car hire, including 4 wheel drive (and all the camping gear if you wish) to enable you to experience the true Icelandic roads.
Frances is an excellent cook and can cater for all dietary requirements - be prepared to put weight on – even if you like walking!
They have an abundance of knowledge, books, guides and maps for your use and will help with anything they can. Frances even made a delicious chocolate cake for my husbands birthday which we wanted to take home with us on the plane.
All in all highly reecomended and we will be returning as soon as we can!

Wow, did we strike gold!!!
We were met from our late night flight at the airport with a warm welcome from Ian who drove us to the B&B where Frances had laid on nibbles & a lovely cup of english tea!
The atmosphere in the house and our room was really comfortable with everything we needed (fabulous bathroom)
Frances is a wonderful cook with all tastes and diets catered for, Nothing was too much trouble. Home made bread every morning with breakfast (ooow the smell)
The enthusiasm for us to have a good time never wained, with knowledgable advise freely given, maps and hints & tips on traveling around, all major & minor attractions covered.
Ian and Frances were the perfect hosts and made our holiday that much better!
A big thank you.
Linda Collins (Hampshire, UK)

Room Tip: Lovely clean comfortable room with excellent shower room.

This was my first visit to Iceland. Frances and Ian will meet travellers from Keflavik and drive them to their fine home by the bay at Alftanes, near the capital and close to the President's official residence. Come in June and you'll be amazed at the constant daylight, midnight sun and beautiful Alaskan lupins. I did not expect such fine weather (the whole week) and so many wild flowers. Bird life abounds too. Your hosts will take you for interesting trips around eastern Iceland or help you plan your journeys. They have excellent local knowledge. There is a local bus stop close by. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for. Frances is an great cook. There is a local swimming pool with naturally heated hot tubs. Reykjavik is a modern city with much to see not least the new concert hall 'Harpa'. Iceland is not the grey, cold inhospitable rock some imagine: the geothermal wonders alone and active volcanoes should enthrall travellers, as well as the varied scenery, then excursions by air to other parts of the country or a bus and ferry connection to the Westmen Islands should provide a few more surprises. I hope that I can return one day.
