“Delightful idyllic retreat in the heart of Tuscany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Relais San Pietro, set in the heart of the Tuscan countryside was a charming and relaxing retreat; the perfect base to explore Tuscany from. Luigi is a wonderful host, the rooms are delightful and the pool refreshing. The breakfasts are delicious as are the dinners - it's not really worth leaving to eat out.
A car is a must for sightseeing and because the location is rural, which of course is part of the charm.

We managed to find this gem of a place on Tripadvisor on our Italian road trip and were fortunate to be able to get 2 nights. The owner was a perfect gentleman who looked after the guests with individual attention, even learning all of our names during our stay. The breakfast and supper meals were fantastic and the view of the Tuscan hills at sunset was the perfect romantic accompaniment. We just couldn't ask for a better time!

we stayed here for a few nights at the end of three week trip around europe .... and what a treat! fabulous location on hill surrounded by olive groves, beautiful tastefully furnished rooms, and wonderful hosts. great evening meals served outdoors on a terrace under the stars.

tips as follows:
1. you will need a car
2. not very easy to find, make sure you have a detailed map with you as gps unreliable
3. do not walk to far into the village up the hill ... it's a dead end where a pack of small yappy dogs will attempt to chase you and bite your ankles

My mother and I spent three nights here in June and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The B&B is beautiful, the service impeccable, and the setting stunning. Luigi and his family made every detail perfect. This is the perfect place to base your Tuscan visit as long as you have a car. The food in the restaurant is incredible and the breakfast was the best I had in almost a month in Italy. The terrace is the perfect place for a drink and beautiful views of the area. Although there is much to do and see in the area, you can also enjoy beauty, relaxation and the magical setting without ever leaving your room. Each time we left, we returned to a freshly cleaned room and a smile. Can't recommend enough!

We stayed two nights at this lovely Hotel. The service provided by Mr Protti and his staff can only be described as excellent. The rooms were immaculate, the views from the terrace pleasing. The pool swim refreshing. The food just fantastic. Every attention to detail is in place, a truly wonderful experience. This Hotel is in excess of 5 stars. We hope to return in the future. Own transport essential.

After a busy 10 days exploring Italy for the first time we felt we should finish with some relative tranquility in the Tuscan countryside. This villa came recommended through Trip Advisor so we decided to try it. It exceeded our wildest dreams in every respect. Sr. Luigi Protti manages the villa with grace, charm and old-world manners. His quiet dignity instantly brought smiles to our faces as he formally introduced himself, apologized for not being present upon our arrival, and explained what would prove to be a delightful and memorable dining experience (the first of three during our stay). The villa was built in the early 18th century and is absolutely beautiful in every respect. It is nestled on a hillside overlooking the Chio Valley and boasts a spectacular view from the large terrace that will tempt you to stay put during your stay. In the distance you can see the medieval town of Castilion Fiorentino, olive orchards and cypress trees. The nights are blissfully quiet but for crickets and owls. The day is started by the local roosters. A great location for visits to the local countryside to take in Cortona and Siena, also both well worth a visit. The dinners were all outstanding but we were particularly impressed by the risotto. I hesitated about doing this review for fear that this place might become too popular and lose its charm, but I doubt Sr. Protti would allow that to happen. Treat yourselved to something very, very special and fine time to enjoy this wonderful villa.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Clematis room and were thrilled with it! Spacious and quiet and beautifully decora...

In this 16th century farmhouse, the innkeepers, Luigi and Antonietta Protti , have put together one of the most accommodating and delightful B&Bs. The site itself is beautiful and quiet, on a hillside along the Chia Valley. Situated about 5 miles east of Castiglion Fioretino and just north of Cortona, it is easy to travel to many great sites in Tuscany.
But the real attraction is the incredible service that one receives from Luigi and his entire staff.
And dinner in the early evening is sheer delight. The front room where you enter the B&B is filled virtually all of the time with aromas of some of the most delicious Italian cooking that one can imagine. And Luigi grows his own olives and has them pressed for your enjoyment at each and every meal.
We will return when time and effort permits as to not revisit would be not easily endured.
