“Nice place to stay - have had better food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in Dec 2011 as we wanted to be in Coron but the town was fully booked as we had left it too late. The resort is about 10-15 mins out of town, but it is quite easy to get into town in the morning and back in the early evening and throughout the day with the free shuttle.

We found our room very nice and clean, with all modern amenities which was great after a week of no aircon or hot showers on a smaller island resort. we had a tv and fridge, and although there was no tv connection, the reception provided a range of video cds. THere was satellite tv at the bar and free wifi near the restaurant.

The restaurant area and pool area were both nice, but we found the food quality not quite right. Again, after a week of eating very nice food at our prior accommodation, it seemed a bit hit and miss. Due to the location of the resort (yes it is a resort, not a B&B/Inn), some might feel restricted to only eating at the resort. Despite this, the mango and banana smoothies were very nice.

The resort offers a number of tours, which for ease we did rather than through operators in the town. I would recommend the Coron Island day of beaches and snorkelling, however you may be able to get it cheaper in the town through a tour company or with the boat directly. The same can probably also be said about the range of options available by providers in the town.

We enjoyed this accommodation, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was easy to get to and from town. The next step for this resort is to improve the food.

On a recent trip to Coron, my friends and I stayed in different resorts due to conflicting skeds and reservations. I was in Busuanga Island Paradise alone and enjoyed it for the most part. First, they manage your expectations by saying early on that they are a forest resort and not a beach-front one. I was given a casita, and while it is quite spacious, it had a musty, woodsy scent similar to when you enter an old, antique house in the province. The bathroom was very clean but it's already showing its 5+ years of age in the fixtures and peeling walls (a good coat of paint could help). Their food is good - big servings, enough for 2-3 people. But the strength of BIP is not with their facilities but on their people. Their service is so personalized and honest - and if only for this, it would make you want to consider coming back. Everyone from Trini and the girls at the Reception area; Willy, the able driver; Jerick my tour guide and the ladies at the Pavillion and snack bar all have the welfare of their customers in mind. Very good service from everyone!
If there's one concern I had, and its to no direct fault of theirs, there are just way too many insects crawling all over (but, they DID mention this is a forest...)! BIP is not for everyone - it is remote, very quiet and has none of the "party atmosphere" of other resorts. If you are looking for peace and quite - and this place has a LOT of that, then this is the perfect place for you.

We needed a place to relax and just marvel at the beauty of nature. We got it here. The best part of our stay is the friendly staff of BIP. I love Milan! thanks for making my breakfast every morning. To Jac and Triny for always attending to our request. And to the 2 drivers who always come to pick us up in town when we go on our trips. Palawan is a nice place but it is made even more special by the staff in BIP.

Been here in BIP last August 2010. We had our first honeymoon as newlyweds in this romantic paradise. it was a memorable experience for us. We really enjoyed the place and we're lucky that we're almost alone there that time because on our 2nd day the last guests left already. the pool was nice and all the staff, they are very friendly, and i could feel the sincerity of their smiles. it is a place for couples or family who want to enjoy the nature and to have some privacy away from the city. thanks to trini and bhok, jeric, also to their tita-head cook (very friendly, sorry i forgot her name), the food was great and really delicious especially the crab omelette. i admit they need more training when it comes to service but i am glad and satisfied that time because knowing they are natives of the place (Palawan) but they have this potential and i love their sincerity to their guest. You would feel it when you see visit them. i've learned that real kindness and honesty comes from the heart and not from training. from my heart, i love the place and the staff. thank you so much for your service and we want to be there again soon. more power to BIP!

It’s notable there was only one poor review on the resort. This was the most accurate of any of the reviews from our perspective. We had the same problem with biting insects in the bed. This was despite burning mosquito coils and covering ourselves in anti-mosquito cream. The staff need to be trained properly. You can’t blame them for taking over an hour to serve food, forget to serve food at breakfast or serve other guests when they arrived 30-40 minutes after you had ordered. There was a lack of understanding with the concept of service, plenty of smiles, but poor. A bit annoying if there were only 3 people on another table and you'd ordered something complicated, like an omlette. The room cleaning, changing towels and linen was hit and miss. Sometimes the room was cleaned, sometimes it wasn’t and we had to ask for towels or loo paper on several days. The hot water for the showers looks to have been turned off regularly, so it required a request to switch it back on. Satellite TV, no, DVD’s only. Not that we bothered with it after a day or two, the power cuts meant any films were interupted more often than not. It took the staff until day five to tell us you can use the minibus into town for free, rather than the local tricycles. The notices said it only ran twice a day, but it didn’t register to say anything about a free service throughout the day. Make sure you sort your bill out the day before you leave, it took a long time and tried to charge an additional PP 20,000! No discounts agreed and charges for paypal transfers, erm no. It was sorted out eventually after a lot of waiting about. Cheap enough, you get what you pay for. The main issue was the bed bugs. Huge Gecko’s, cockroaches and wildlife are to be expected in a resort in the middle of a forest. Take plenty of Mozzy cream, the resort sign should be a Mosquito not a dragon fly!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights and it was very memorable for us. The facilities and casitas were charming, comfortable, clean and well-maintained. The meals (especially the breakfast danggit) were delicious and in generous helpings. It was convenient to go to town/airport and back. The staff (Milan, Trini, Jac, etc) and the owner (Mrs. Narcisco) were very accommodating and approachable. My only suggestion is for the videoke area to be located in a closed room so that other guests will not be bothered by loud annoying off-key singing.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to relax and enjoy for a couple of days after the flight half way around the world to start our vacation together. Busanga Island Paradise was the perfect place to start our 3 weeks in the Philippines.

First off Palawan is paradise. If you are going to the Philippines make sure you include Palawan on the trip.

The best part about Busanga Island Paradise is the staff. They are amazing. Friendly, always ready to help you make your stay comfortable. Out cleaning the fallen leaves from over night before we have waken up. Attention to detail on cleaning and serving was amazing. I was witness to a westerner making unreasonable requests at one dinner and they still did everything they could to try to accomodate his request. I dont know maybe trying to impress his filipina girlfriend it was really quite sad. The treated him better than he deserved.

We booked a couple of excursions with them and the trip around the island was a nice relaxing afternoon for us after we arrived. The island hopping tour was one of the highlights of the trip. They arranged for our own boat to go to 4 islands. Our guide from the hotel that went with us, was great at helping my girlfriend who is not a good swimmer. Which allowed me to really enjoy the snorkling opportunity. I dont remember his name but he definetly earned a good tip for his services.

The rooms/cabins are large and clean. Big washroom. The location is away from the town so expect to spend quite time in the evening with your party. The food was included and is good. It is a great way to start or end your trip to the Philippines
