“YUMMMMMMMM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

This is a "different" type of Filipino restaurant, in that if you're expecting some old school cooking, you might not get it here. BUT, the modern revamped twist of classics that you'll get here is SO amazingly delicious and flavourful. I actually found this restaurant by reading reviews right here on TripAvisor from fellow reviewers who were talking about Kat (the owner) and her made-from-scratch everything... Take the time to chat her up, and know the story behind the dishes, it will enhance your experience that much more! You can sense her passion when she explains how she came up with the ideas experimenting and what ingredients she uses! Thank you fellow reviewers for recommending such a GEM!!! YUM I miss those sausages!!! Try everything if you can, menu is small and they have a daily fish done 3 ways (which we didn't get to try cus we ordered too much from the delicious regular menu and got too full!)
YUMMM

“Deserves the excellent reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

Great food! The menu is on a blackboard which suggests fresh ingredients are used on a daily basis. We were not disappointed. We had the tuna sashimi and tataki, which just melted in our mouths. As others have said the fresh lumpia is a must try. No desserts though :( must try while in coron!

“Happy place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Since food is one of our happy places, we found it at Sinugba sa Balay!!! What a way to start ( and end since this was our last stop before our return flight) our awesome adventure in Coron! Grilled Kingfish steak (Tanigue), adobo and pan fried squid, fried chicken, mango ginger smoothie and of course the famous Fresh Lumpia were all simply delightful!..kudos to Kat ,the cook and Oswald, the engineer/artist who designed the thatched hut! both unassuming yet so talented! We enjoyed the food a lot and your company...

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

We had the grilled fish of the day, the fresh lumpia, the homemade pansit, and the mango, banana & ginger smoothies! Everything was fresh and yummy! Attentive staff, rustic decor & fun music! Highly recommended!

“Now my comfort food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Been travelling to Coron for several months now and I swear this is the best place to eat. The fresh lumpia (veggie roll) will make you forget your name. The owner, Kat, will tell you stories till you both cry from laughing. The vibe is so warm. Service is very personal.

Once I ate here and they were short on staff. I became the waiter to my group and it was so cool.

Sinugba is a hidden gem, just a few meters off the National Highway. Soon an art space will be created. The bar will be done also.

Even if this was hit by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the spirits still run high. The place humbly welcomes you and the experience only runs deep with more stories to tell.
