My wife and our friend stayed here two weeks ago for the first time and we were impressed.
We are fans of the Taal,Batangas / Vigan style of old-style Pinoy architecture and who ever planned Sophia's Garden Resort did his (or her) homework. Its located a few minutes away from the town proper and is one of the better places in Coron.
The hotel's airport transfer is a new Toyota Super Grandia with the captain chairs instead of the commuter seats.
My only complaint is that they had to transfer us to another place, Sunz en Coron, in Nueva Street on the last day of our stay because they (Sophia's) overbooked.
While I was having a beer at the jacuzzi by the pool (which had lights which changed colors) the waiter said they ran out of ice and had to wait for a delivery. Aside from these two incidents I would say staying here was a very pleasant experience.
Fairly sized rooms with great wooden detail considering the size of the room. The shower and other bathroom fixtures were above average. In room snacks were local chips and chocolates, reasonably priced .There was no personal ref and the cable connection on the television was dodgy though.
Wireless internet connection was consistently good throughout our stay. We had been warned by the staff that power sometimes goes out in the island but did not experience it during our stay.
The staff were very accommodating even at 4 in the morning. The mess hall (?) is airy and had a nice glimpse of the sunset.
The meals were reasonably priced and fairly decent although the spicy crabs are not on the same level as the crabs / lobster one gets to eat on the underground river tours on the other side of Palawan.
The dining hall staff were very professional and nice.
There is no alcoholic drinks on the beverage list although they do serve beer and I spied a few bottles of hard stuff on the counter.
The pool was small and had an average depth of around four feet.
I'd definitely stay here again in the future and the whoever runs this place knows what they are doing. The house/world music and nightly bonfire on the grounds was a nice touch.
