“Pre New Year Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We organised a package through a tour opeator that included a couple of nights at Balaibinda as well as a tour of the town and Coron Island.

The hotel is just off the market square in the centre of town, with the sound of vendors and tricycles making you feel in the heart of Coron life. Considering Super Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as Yolanda; Y for the 25th typhoon to hit the Philippines this year so far) had rolled through a month previous, the hotel and the island showed little sign of defeat and people seemed to be getting on with things in their usual manner.

We stayed in a triple room on the first floor at the very end of the walkway overlooking the road in front on the hotel. Despite this close proximity, the room was quiet. It had a small bathroom with a shower and toilet, plus there was also a decent aircon unit and a flat screen TV with satellite.

The only issue we had was service at breakfast. The day before, you select your meal and time, but both mornings we waited in excess of 15-20mins for it to be brought to the table.

All in all, a nice little hotel and an enjoyable stay.

The location was great. The public market is just right outside and the boating trips walking distance. We had the family room which could accommodate up to 6 people. The room was quiet. They have their own generator when the electricity goes out. On first night, the beds were itchy- bed bugs. The egg crate mattresses are not being disinfected properly. They changed the bedsheets but didn't help. Bring lysol spray for the bed if you plan on staying there. Breakfast is ordered the night before, so cold food in the morning. There's no warm water.

After enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Coron, Balaidinda was a nice place to relax and savor the days' awesome adventure! We enjoyed our free breakfast, nice and clean room, but most of all the friendly, courteous and helpful staff. The location was great since one can easily access the market, restaurants and tour companies...simply homey and charming place at a very reasonable price!

Room Tip: rooms located at the third floor or any rooms by the courtyard

Stayed here in September, after we searched for the best hotel we could find on our limited budget. It did not disappoint in any way. It was comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The breakfast surpassed my expectations. We stayed in an interior room, where it was quiet at night. There was some noise from people passing by in the morning, but not enough to be a nuisance. I was glad to hear they weathered the storm from Haiyan well, because I would love to visit again.

Room Tip: Interior rooms are better for noise. The second floor is where the dining area is, so you will get...

We booked here last minute because our flight was cancelled in Coron back to Manila.

Compared to nearby hotels, Balaibinda has a great design and friendly staff. It is located at the center of town. Having a bad experience from a hotel near Balaibinda, this place felt like heaven for us. They have a good dining area, nicely designed rooms and an upper deck view of the sea. Breakfast is also free. Their price is also very competitive!

Since the hotel is quite small, you might hear people outside your room. At least that's our experience when we stayed at the ground floor. We also booked the second floor facing the road for our guests. They didn't complain about the noise of the tricycles although some comments say that it can be quite loud... i think it's still worth it...

Room Tip: Might be best to stay away from the rooms facing the road although it still worth it...

I transfer here after the Ecolodge increase their rate. The hotel is more accessible, rooms are clean, friendly staff and nice buffet breakfast. Their WI-FI is accessible in room. Good thing is they have a standby generator, brownout is common in Coron.

Centrally located to restaurants, public market, banks and pier. The place is safe. Rooms are good with basic amenities. They arrange for your airport transfers ( to and from) for a reasonable rate. Suggest that you connect via their website. They inform you all the things which you may need to know when traveling to coron (i.e what to bring, mode of payment, atm locations). This is a convenient and safe hotel especially for solo travelers.
