“CENTER, GOOD DESIGN & REASONBLY PRICED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We booked here last minute because our flight was cancelled in Coron back to Manila.

Compared to nearby hotels, Balaibinda has a great design and friendly staff. It is located at the center of town. Having a bad experience from a hotel near Balaibinda, this place felt like heaven for us. They have a good dining area, nicely designed rooms and an upper deck view of the sea. Breakfast is also free. Their price is also very competitive!

Since the hotel is quite small, you might hear people outside your room. At least that's our experience when we stayed at the ground floor. We also booked the second floor facing the road for our guests. They didn't complain about the noise of the tricycles although some comments say that it can be quite loud... i think it's still worth it...

Room Tip: Might be best to stay away from the rooms facing the road although it still worth it...

I transfer here after the Ecolodge increase their rate. The hotel is more accessible, rooms are clean, friendly staff and nice buffet breakfast. Their WI-FI is accessible in room. Good thing is they have a standby generator, brownout is common in Coron.

Centrally located to restaurants, public market, banks and pier. The place is safe. Rooms are good with basic amenities. They arrange for your airport transfers ( to and from) for a reasonable rate. Suggest that you connect via their website. They inform you all the things which you may need to know when traveling to coron (i.e what to bring, mode of payment, atm locations). This is a convenient and safe hotel especially for solo travelers.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my mom, my two aunts and my cousin. We booked the penthouse rooms, which were nice because they had a fridge, hot water maker, plus adjoining balconies and a rooftop patio. Totally worth the extra pesos, which don't amount to much for the privacy and view. Like others have mentioned, the rooms are small. But the AC was strong (such a nice respite from the Palawan heat!), and the water pressure and water temp were perfect. The decor of the hotel is very charming, filled with native artwork that gives it an authentic feel. Breakfasts were good, with enough choices for a 4-day stay. We also pre-ordered dinner one night and it was excellent! You do have to ask the front desk for extra towels and toilet paper, which is not a problem, but it would be nice for those things to be automatically replenished. Also, I HIGHLY recommend some sort of hotel guide that explains all of the services and processes, since they are quite unique to BalaiBinda. A guide of things to see/do would be an added plus, and perhaps a recommendation of clean and cheap places to eat in town.

That said, the hotel is very close to the public market and launching point for Coron tours -- totally walkable, but you may want to pay for a trike since the heat is pretty intense. Good restaurants, milk tea, fruit shake and coffee places nearby as well (try Coronzy Coffee & Ice Valley).

For our first tour to Malcapuya Island, Banana Island and Bulog Dos, we joined a group tour, which we booked just down the street from the hotel past the roundabout. If you have a small group, you can trike to the Hot Springs and skip booking this through a tour operator. On our last day, we only wanted to go to Lake Kayangan and Banol Beach, so we hired a private bangka for 1500 PHP. That doesn't include entrance fees and food so the costs were nearly the same as joining a group tour, but you have the benefit of a private boat and customization (a big deal for me). In the end, it was totally worth doing it this way.

Enjoy Coron -- it is BEAUTIFUL. BalaiBinda is a great value -- with airport transport included in the price. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the penthouse rooms, it's worth it!

We were in Coron for only a couple of nights, and we enjoyed our stay at BalaiBinda. My mom, sister and I booked a triple share room which was small but clean. We didn't spend a lot of time in our room anyway, as we were busy exploring the town and island. BalaiBinda is located at the town center, very close to the public market and Baywalk. Breakfast was great and the staff was friendly and accommodating. More details and photos of BalaiBinda and our Coron trip are in my blog: http://www.onecraftygeekyfoodie.me/coron-a-recap/

We just arrived from our wonderful vacation from Coron. I am happy that I chose Balaibinda to stay after our days from Island hopping before transferring to Coron Westown Resort as it is a very convenient place to stay. It's very near to almost everywhere, no need to ride trikes as it is near to restaurants, public market, boat docks, pharmacy, bakery stores, town plaza etc.

Aside from it's location, I like the homey effect of the place. They have cute little display in their place that reminds you of home. Nice interior and artsy stuff displayed. I also admire their customer service, they are prompt and very informative when asking about going around town.

As for breakfast, they offer unlimited coffee and the usual breakfast food. A day before, they would ask you to choose food from their breakfast menu and ask you what time you'll be having breakfast and if breakfast comes, you will hear a knock from your door at exact time specified as to when you'll be having your breakfast. They're very prompt.

For Rooms, we opted to get the courtyard room but unfortunately it was already booked so we settled for roadside queen. For a couple, I believe the space is not a factor for us. It's already enough for us and it's not really a big deal as we are out of the lodge most of the time. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful room, great queen mattress and I believe it's just perfect for us. Yeah, the disadvantage is it can be noisy even in the wee hours of the morning so one should expect this when taking the roadside rooms. We were able to sleep soundly though as island hopping is very tiresome thus we were too exhausted to be bothered by the noise.

Minor glitch is that we stayed there for 3 days but the toiletries they've given are only valid for a day. It should be automatically given to you since they know that we will be using the toiletries for our 3 days of our stay. Also, expect constant blackouts, it's already written in their website and true enough, not a day of our stay goes by that we encounter power interruption. But they have backup generator and the only downside is you will have to use the fan instead of AC.

But aside from that, Balaibinda is a great steal. A perfect place to stay after a long day of Island hopping adventure.

Balaibinda Lodge has the most Central location in Coron town! It is a few minutes walk to the Boat moorings, the markets and the many restaurants. However the downside of this "perfect" location is the traffic noise! To escape the sound of the tricycles and passers-by, choose the courtyard rooms which face inwards to a nice little garden. Even the penthouse rooms (which we took) are not spared from the noise as the balcony faces the street. The other downside are the small size of the rooms which looks cramped, but you get used to it after a while.
The nice features of Balaibinda are:-
- the nice breakfast which is included in the price, and has many choices for Filipino or Western styles.
- the small refrigerator for your fruits and beers.
- the coffee/tea making facilities
- the nice TV with loads of channels.
- the roof-top terrace with views of the sea and the nearby hill, Mount Tapyas. It is also a great place for sipping your beer watching the sunset, and also a place to dry your washing.
--strangely, they don't loan you a hair dryer, even though it is a cheap appliance!

Room Tip: Take the courtyard (inside facing) rooms for more peaceful sleep.
