We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2012. We booked two months in advance and requested for a room with an ocean view. They confirmed it but we were surprised to find out that our room was facing a construction site (it was so close to our balcony/window that the workers could actually reach it, so we were concerned about leaving our things outside --- but thankfully, our stuff inside the room were safe).
Although the room was clean and the hotel reasonably-priced, we got so irritated by the kitchen personnel who knocked on our door at past 10pm to ask if we would be ordering breakfast the next day. In the morning, we complained to the front desk, and the owner himself, and both had a blank reaction, as if it was perfectly alright to do that. They assured us though that it would not happen again. Unfortunately, the next night, it did. Same guy, same question. We were all asleep already on both occasions and he never even apologized.
The hotel will offer tours but after serious internet research, I found out that it's a lot cheaper to book directly at the pier/wharf. If you want to get a city tour, you can hire a tricycle for the day. Distances within Coron are so short and roads are so narrow that its best to go around either by foot or via tricycle. The hotel offered to book a tricycle for our city tour for the day at Php250. Since it was our first day there, we booked with them. We found out, however, that if you book directly with the tricycle, you get it at Php150 only.
On the good side, the hotel is relatively new so it's clean. Our room was clean and it had cable TV. Location is good as it is within walking distance from the pier and some good restaurants. During the time we went there, they had rotating brown outs but thankfully, these did not come in the middle of the night. The brownouts came in the afternoon when we were out island hopping.
breakfast at Tita Esh, a nearby eatery (not too fancy though) is good. buy your water at the water...
