“TIRING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Get ready for a workout! 724 stairs to the top. My legs were sore for days, good thing massages are so cheap in Coron. It's definitely rewarding once you get to the top. Amazing view!

“amazing climb!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

I thought that I would faint or somehow would feel really really really exhausted that my head would explode from heat and tiredness but to my surprise.. I made it to the top, sweaty and still energized! wow! i guess when i quit smoking, my overall health has improved! ;) and the view on top was really breathtaking! It was rather hard going down than climbing up because I have the feeling of stumbling down. :P

“Bathed in sweat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

With its 700+ steps, get ready to bathe in your own sweat! it's gonna be a long way to the top. This reminds me of Mt. Samat in Bataan but without the elevator inside the cross and a parking on top. Don't forget to bring water with you! You'll get dehydrated. You will see the whole island from here. Amazing sunset. Definitely worth the hike.

“Great view above pollution & squalor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

An eco-lodge priced for sustainability would make it a paradise. OF course, with a high standard of comfort & serving local food foodies come all the way for.

“Nice view, great exercise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

The 724 or so steps seemed scary at first but there were many stops with benches so if you're in for a hike and a great view of Coron bay, then climbing Mt. Tapyas is for you. The entrance is for free so all you need is some water, sunglasses, hand towel and preferably, a change of clothes or extra shirt if you don't want to get all sweaty. There is a restroom somewhere on the 200th step but I personally did not use it so I don't know if it's ok.

If you don't have a guide, look for the vendor who sold us water and Gatorade. He guided us the entire time, took our photos and provided us with drinks. It will help to give him a tip, of course, but not necessary.

The view on the top is nice. And if you're the religious or spiritual type, it's a perfect hike to commune with nature and God. It's also a perfect venue for some serious workout. Be sure to stretch those legs before and after the hike!

BTW, my 5 year old son was able to climb the hill and back. But if you have small kids, expect to carry them when they get tired!
