“Always Good”

We have eaten here on numerous occasions and it has always been very good. The service is attentive, and the pub always feels warm and friendly. Highly recommended.

“Just as good as ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We're not sure why, but we hadn't been here since last July. A welcome return for us, and the first time for our guests. Great food, great service. Two of had the interesting vegetarian options (of which there were two) and the others had chicken and duck. All were delicious.

Thanks to all at the New Inn.

“Great Night Out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We went to the New Inn with friends for dinner. It is tucked away and off the beaten track but is well worth a visit. The food was all freshly cooked, and there was a good choice of starters, mains and wine. The service was excellent and the husband and wife team that run the New Inn are warm and welcoming. If you are in the area and want good food in great surroundings, head for the New Inn!

“Birthday Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Returned to the New Inn for my birthday lunch for Sunday 17th February. (This was following my 60th birthday bash at the New Inn last year). We were this time just a party of three (myself, husband and good friend) however from the time we entered to our leaving we were treated to excellent food, service and ambience. The pub was buzzing which in my books is a plus in giving a good atmosphere. Hospitality and service was top rate. Traditional lunch was with beef but on the waitress being told that this was not our choice of meat we were offered for it to be replaced by breast of chicken (shown within a different dish). The roasts were lovely with the meat and veg cooked to perfection. Our friend ordered the hake dish with pearl barley - she was delighted with this and on tasting we could understand why. Prior to pudding being ordered a birthday cake (passed without my knowing to the staff) was presented with candles alight. I was then given a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' from all within the pub. Everyone was courteous and friendly. Once cake was devoured we only had room for coffees. No problem was the reply from the waitress. Our chat continued over coffee and before we knew it we were the last to leave - however I must stress there was certainly no pressure from any of the staff. All I can say is what a lovely birthday lunch - excellent food and service in such ambient surroundings. We will certainly be visiting on a more regular basis from now on!

“Dorset's best kept secret”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant was chosen for a surprise birthday lunch, the birthday girl having had her 60th party there the previous year, which I had missed out on. I only had a main of Hake with pearl barley risotto, (yes I have read the other comments on the overuse of risotto), but it was stunning, can't wait to try making it at home! A bought birthday cake supplied secretly to the staff with a nod & a wink was produced with candles lit at the appropriate time, just as which pudding to select was being mulled over, so cake was eaten by all instead, the staff not minding this. They were so friendly and flexible, & my impression of the place was extremely good.
