“A bit hit and miss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

Our second visit and got say one night really good but the second very disappointing. First night ate at the Waterside. The choice and quality was very very good. I had the belly pork and was the nicest ever had. Second night went to Nico's Brasserie. There unlike the previous night where we were spoilt for choice, this place we struggled to find something we did want. When it arrived it was simply ok nothing at all special. So a tip just eat at the Waterside both nights.

First the good side - nice setting, lots of facilities - spa, two restaurants, spa is set away from hotel by a 30 second walk. Rooms were nice but not particularly roomy and decor was ok but a little dated. Complementary water in the rooms and nice selection of tea coffee hot chocolate & biscuits. If you like soft beds then this is definately for you! Staff were efficient enough, however we had booked a reservation at Nicos brasserie which we asked for directions but not told it was inside the spa, so not too impressed with that. Food at Nicos was ok, nothing too special although they had a mexican buffet night which looked pretty tasty and other theme nights. Would I stay again? Probably not as I was a bit underwelmed by the location, plus the website made the Lion Quays look as if it was set off the road which it wasn't. It made me think of a high class Premier Inn (Although I have nothing against Premier Inns, I love them). Good for Wedding Venues, and easy distance from Llangollen, Oswestry & Bets y coed, so good location.

We recently stayed at the lion quays for a friends wedding and had a lovely time, foods was great and the staff were lovely and our rooms were very clean.
The spa was the best one I've ever been too.
The only negative thing i would say is on appearance this looks like a modern 4 star hotel but on the inside its a little dated and tired looking in some places, especially the main function room, carpets, curtain and light fittings could do with being updated, but other than that I would recommend this hotel.

Well what can i say, from check in to check out staying at the lion quays resort was an absolute pleasure!! I stayed with my wife for two nights and we didnt want to leave, we ate at the waterside on our first night which was absolutely beautiful, very reasonable drinks prices as well, the room was lovely and comfortable with a huge flat screen tv and a balcony. When we went to the waterside for our breakfast on the first morning we weren't sure what to expect, but we needent have worried, it was fantastic, a vast selection to ensure that all cases are catered for. I have stayed in five star hotels before and I have to say that the breakfasts there didnt hold a candle to the breakfast at the lion quays. The only think left to say is i implore anyone who stays here to use the leisure facilities, a large 25 meter swimming pool, steam room, poolside jakuzi and a sauna, all absolutely fabulous and very relaxing. And a large technogym with easy to use machines which cater for all abilities. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning a rerurn later in the year.

We stayed at the Moreton park Hotel and was able to use the facillities in the water front resort.
It was fantastic, large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Steam room Sauna.
When not using the above you could relax under the palm trees on a poolside sun lounger.

A bit od wear and tear on the columns around the pool but over all was very nice.
Large changing area with lots of showers, hairdryers etc

Friendly helpful staff and a large well equipped Gym.

Wonderful would go back again, and again.

Room Tip: Used the Spa only never stayed in the hotel.

Used this Spa whilst staying at Moreton Park Hotel,
Wow the place is amazing, everything from the loungers by the 25m pool, a nice hot bubbly jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, right down to the mood lighting in the ceiling.
Staff are very polite and helpful.

A very extensive gym, lots of equipment to use with TV screens (Don't forget your earphones)
