“Gem countryside spot next to Byron”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

We usually stay in Lennox Head when we come to Byron as we like to stay far from the crowd and it's a good compromise when you have very young kids.
2 weeks ago, we opted for the countryside experience at Ange and Ian's cottages: "oh la la la" what a great place just 5min driving from Byron!
We had a 2 bedroom cottage and could easily fit 4 adults, a 3yo and a bub.
It's simple and basic, but very comfy and to be honest you don't need more. I would only suggest that a hammock on the deck would be an awesome add to enjoy the peaceful view on the lake before an afternoon nap.... For those who are more adventurous, there's plenty to do at the farmstay itself: kayaking or fishing on the lake, walks, taking the kids to grab some fresh eggs or feed the horses.... There's a nice map provided in your cottage to spot a platypus, get the best view ever over the bay while you're sharing some drinks at the top of the hill and on your way back you can stop to pick up some fresh herbs and fruits for diner!
It's the kind of place that you want to keep secret but you also feel like you have to share it because there's this family doing its best to welcome you.
Thank you again and MERCI BEAUCOUP dear Angela!!!!
We'll come back for sure and spread the word from Brisbane to Paris.

I have stayed at the farm stay over 6 times and every time I love it more and more. The property is gorgeous, the owners are amazing and I love the peace and quite of being on the farm. I particularly enjoy going for an afternoon row boat of the lake. There is no where else I would stay in Byron bay!

I've seen other reviews comment on the price compared to others in Byron. I had concerns as to what we would get given the relatively low cost. I need not have worried. There was a warm welcome and the 2 x 1 bed units we had rented were both spotlessly clean and well equipped. The cottages are well spread out ensuring privacy. The surroundings that the farm provides make this a special place. One of our group saw an elusive duckbill platypus, I learnt to Kayak and tought others to row. We swam in the lake. The views are tremendous. It is the perfect location, close to Byron for all the action and Bangalow for the quaint shops and market, but far enough away to be a peaceful retreat.

Room Tip: All looked good.

Hello there. Thanks for the glowing review about your stay - love that you honed your boat skills while you were here! We try to provide the best value & most unique accommodation in Byron, and it's nice to hear you think it's great value as well as an appealing set up! The 1-bedroom cottages in particular all have new kitchens, bathrooms, carpet, dining suites, interior paint... hopefully that makes them all super comfy & fresh!

Staying on the farm allows us to enjoy all the options available in this beautiful part of the country.
We can just take it easy and just explore the farm with its rainforest remnents, platypi ponds, and Hayters hill with it's amazing 360 degree views of Byron shire and beyond. If we feel like venturing out Bangalow with its lively market is only a short drive away, while the beach and Byron are just as close. A perfect location, with friendly and cheerful hosts it is a the most relaxing retreat from the city that I know..

My friends and I stay here every year on our annual Byron trip. The property is so beautiful and we love going kayaking and row boating on the lake that our cabin overlooks. The location is excellent too - 7 mins to Byron, 7 mins to Bangalow. My favourite part of staying here, though, is the hilltop walk - you're able to follow a track up to the top of one of the hills in one of their paddocks and you have an instant 360 degree view of Byron and surrounds. The service is always friendly and the cabins are cosy and well-stocked.

Booked an the basis of previous reviews. Had some reservations as it was cheaper than many other places on offer but having been there I don't know why! Location was idyllic and accommodation was perfect for us. Would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed here in jan with our 14yr old daughter. It was wonderful.
The place is just beautiful.
Angela is so lovely and helpful.
Its close to byron bay without any of the noise and crowds.
We walked, kayaked, fed the horses (lily & ebony) and relaxed.
I highly recommend this place for a holiday.
You need more than the 3 nights we stayed.it wasnt enough.
Looking forward to getting back there!
