“Very attentive staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013 via mobile

From the very first minute on arriving at the Nam Hai we were impressed by the level of customer service at this Hotel. We were met by about 5 people and everybody seemed totally committed to making sure we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The Nam Hai is a stunning Hotel in a great location for Hoi An and ticks all the boxes if you are looking for a little bit of heaven in the Far East!

Spent three days at the Namhai in their two bedroom club villa. While the hotel is expensive, according to me it's absolutely worth it because everything the hotel had to offer was top notch. The villa was fabulous and had every facility one could ask for! The butler assigned to us was excellent and there was no request he did not fulfill. The Olympic size pool was fabulous and Incase you wanted privacy while sunbathing the private villa pool was equally beautiful.

The Namhai is amongst the most luxurious and high end resorts I've visited anywhere in the world and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Vietnam.

This is a resort of resorts. It different from others because of the vast expanse, luxurious villas, overlooking the south china sea. The place is designed for tranquility for young and old alike.
The bicycles rides, gym, massage area are the best compared to anywhere in the world. The
staff are at your beck and call all the time. extremely pleasant stay and the business centre with
the library was the best I have ever experienced. The wiFi is instantaneous and so powerful that
you can access anywhere is the world without hesitation and free. The three restaurants serve exquisite food. The three pools are futuristic and blend into infinity of the sea.
Well Healed resort.

Room Tip: Request for sea front villa is possible

This property is truly sensational. From the moment you alight at the reception area to the moment you are introduced to your private villa with separate sleeping villa - private pool and direct access to the beach. The features are divine. Our personal butler was a true professional. The daily breakfast was a delight complete with champagne cocktail. If you need to re-charge and love doing so in the lap of luxury, head to the Nam Hai - I'm not sure anyone does it better on the mainland of Vietnam. The buildings are thoughtfully designed. The fitness centre is extremely well equipped. If you desire company and need to leave your private pool, there are 2 main pools that are serviced well by a pool side bar. Simply a place where you could want for nothing.

Room Tip: Choose a private villa right on the beach - divine.

Stayed seven nights in a beach front villa in September. Couple in mid 40's.

Transport: The hotels' fleet of X5 are shiny and new. The driver was waiting at the airport gate and the car cooled with free WiFi and drinks ready for the 30-40min drive to the hotel. The hotel is nearer to Hoi An than it it to Da Nang.

Rooms:The "10" and "20" numbered villas are closest to the water. The resort is built in a series of "U" shapes and some villas, while technically on the sand, can be a fair way from the water itself. The series of private pool villas up the level of luxury if you wish to be secluded.

It is a typical GHM Hotels property. Beautifully planned and built. The gardens are verdant and lush. Photo's really do not do the place justice.

Staff: The main restaurant manager Ms Ai is a standout lady - friendly and warm. So to the other staff members - and the (relatively new) F&B manager was always at hand.

The house keeping staff were discrete and efficient. Rooms and belonging carefully cleaned. Laundry service efficient, accurate and relatively cheap. Well worth using.

The concierge team members where also great providing accurate recommendations for the sourcing of a marble sculpture from a local reputable suppler who carved more contemporary style works than the other producers. Our sculpture was shipped back home and arrived in pristine condition three weeks later.

The concierge team also arranged a day tour to Hue using the hotel's BMW X5. A comfortable ride for a long day trip to and from Hue. It was not cheap - but you pay for what you get - a new X5 and a driver to yourself for about 8-9 hours so it is was well worth the price. Worth a day doing this to see the UNESCO listed imperial city.

Finally the team also arranged a two night cruise in Halong Bay using the Au Co Line and it was all handled efficiently and promptly.

The Spa: It was tranquil and peaceful. The massages/treatments performed with competence and skill.

Food: As we stayed seven nights we really got to know the menus at the various restaurants and bars.

Breakfast. Good selection of western and local foods including Pho ( "Fur"" a soup of either chicken or beef). Champagne either on its own or in cocktails included in the buffet was a nice touch. The ginger/passionfruit/lime juice mix was awesome.

The standard of food was exemplary - in not many places could you be treated to a comparison freshly flown in french oysters up against those from local farms at Na Trang ( the local oysters were in fact sightly better) on a complimentary basis at the bar one evening. Prime fillet beef from Australia cooked precisely to order topped with fois gras was succulent and with good grass fed beef taste .

The out door Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and dinner also great - it getting an over haul and all dressed up for the dinner service. An eggplant hot pot was terrific and so was the sauteed local mixed mushrooms. In fact the quality and taste of the vegetable dishes was great - even for a committed meat eater.

Pool service: The snack of grilled local calamari marinated in fish sauce and palm sugar was a stand out. The Pool side team are polite, friendly and unobtrusive. Complementary sun screen and cool bottles of water were a nice touch.

Wine: An extensive list that is not cheap by any standard, but you have to remember that you are on a beach in the middle of Vietnam tens of thousands of miles away from France/Australia/NZ. Wine is a luxury in these parts and costs good money to get flown in. On par with prices in a very good resort in Thailand and not out of kilter when compared to a good restaurant in Sydney, HK or Singapore.

Gym: At the entrance to the resort. All new gear and great design for the his/hers change rooms leading to the gym. Two tennis courts (hard court) and a basket ball hoop area . They have a team member that you can hit with on the tennis court when your better/other half decides the spa is a better option than running around a tennis court.

Outside the resort: Hoi An: A relatively short taxi ride (US$7) to Hoi An (about 15 -20 mins). The hotel does a shuttle bus but the taxi is far more convenient. Why skimp on a few dollars on transport when you are staying in a place like this. A lovely ""old town" with plenty of options for shopping and eating. Certainly cheaper if you want to catch a taxi into the town and have a meal there. Morning Glory Restaurant was recommended by the hotel and was spot on. The "White Marble Restaurant and Wine Bar" was an awesome place to spend a lazy afternoon watching the local world go by .

Overall, a beautiful resort with in an idyllic location. It is a credit to the manager Mr Hess and GHM generally, to run a great hotel in what is a fairly remote area of Vietnam.

Our mistake to come this time of the year when monsoon has left the rest of southeast asia. Just stayed during major tropical depression for 4 nights. Rained 40 straight hours but much rain is normal in October and November--this is the very rainy season here Great property which is hard to get your money's worth in bad weather. Great breakfast buffet, very good fitness center with sauna and steam rooms, excellent spa, and incredible one bedroom villas. Nice welcome cocktail party on Friday nite. Room service was nice--was able to order lunch menu items at nite
Staff was awesome. Rooms are large and opulent. Wi--fi was best of any of 13 five star hotels we stayed in southeast. Fantastic pool area which I was able to enjoy the last day of our stay

Would be great place January to May. They will pamper you and you will get value for your money

Go to Hoi An for dinner to Morning Gloria or Madame Ly's where you can have great food, cocktails and wine for $15-20 a person. Only $7 cab each way

Some things could be improved or cautions to staying here

--very large resort so great distance between rooms and dining and pool. Try to get room closer to everything
--tv did not work most of our stay and when worked very low quality equal to one star resort. Usually we don't watch but in rainy weather tv would have helped
--good movie selection but whole movie system went out during the movie and could not see it to the end
--room is multiple levels so makes trips to and from bathroom dangerous at nite
--no special benefits during 4 day stay during rainy season Probably fault of travel company ICS and not the Nam Hai
--extremely expensive restaurants--excuses given by management in previous reviews just self justification for predatory pricing.

Management needs to go to Metropole in Hanoi and figure how to create an evening atmosphere to keep bar area and informal restaurant packed with happy customers who feel they are getting good value for their money vs having to go to Hoi An for dinner

Room Tip: Get one close to the pool and dining areas

Walter H, Manager at The Nam Hai Hoi An - a GHM hotel, responded to this review, November 17, 2013
It was a pleasure to read that you felt well looked after by our dedicated team during your recent four night stay at The Nam Hai in spite of the inclement November weather. Whilst you were not able to enjoy the pools and the beach, we were glad to learn you had the opportunity to take advantage of the well-equipped gym, The Spa as well as join the weekly management cocktail.

Your constructive feedback is taken to heart and we will address each point raised in due course. Once again, thank you very much for your visit and we are looking forward to welcoming you back in the foreseeable future. Walter Hess, Resident Manager.

This resort simply has the "wow factor" and competes at top level with the Worlds best. You feel special here and are tentatively looked after by the many staff who will great you warmly and really make you feel special and wanted.

The two restaurants are superb and provide dining at its best, so-be-it a tad pricey but the quality is second-to-none.

Breakfast is simply to die for. I won't ruin your surprise by telling you about it but just wait and see!

The bungalow furnishings are exceptional and designed interestingly providing a modern, contemporary look and feel. Music-stocked I-pod, Bose sound system, stocked minibars (yes, barS), a slightly "kinky" outside shower as well as full "his and hers" inside facilities makes this place my number ONE in Vietnam and, arguably, number ONE globally.

Don't hesitate and book your luxury retreat.
