Our mid-week break was an absolute delight. Comfortable room, very good food, Real Ale, friendly efficient staff. The focus on quality local produce was appreciated along with extras such as bottled water and newspapers. A top notch bargain. We'll be back.

We have visited the Bathurst Arms approx 5 times in the last few years(For between 3-5 nights at a time)
However our recent trip will be our last! The whole place seems to be drastically crumbling around its owners ears. We have usually spent between £500 - £900 with them on our stays and have NEVER had such as a single niggle or complaint before.
The entire 4 day stay with them was seriously AWFULL!
The owner of the Bathurst Arms (James) seems to have lost all direction and control of the place! It seemed beneath him to actually spend any time talking to, or even acknowledging his paying guests!

The room was damp and cold with peeling paint and everything just looked tired! There is a huge difference between "Character" & "Grubby & Dirty".
The bathroom and shower had chipped tiles chipped enamel on the bath and just had a smell of mold and damp?.

Genuinely sad to see such a once great pub decend into such a state.
I WISH I'd seen an honest recent review on the place BEFORE I stayed there this time.
P.S. Four of the other couples staying at the same time agreed with us and all said "Lesson learnt!!" & "Never Again" .. Too many great places to stay locally so speak with your wallet and stay elsewhere.

Clean, comfortable but basic rooms. I have just returned from a two night stay here, the fact there are no TV's or mobile phone signal was an added bonus for us! The rooms are very clean with lovely comfortable beds and nice quality bed linen, a full tray of tea and coffee plus bottled water in the rooms which was nice. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice (we would both reccommend the full English!). All the staff were welcoming and very friendly, the bar was lively and had a really nice atmosphere on both the Friday and Saturday evenings. We both really liked the wine collection in the snug and enjoyed reading the handwritten labels!

We only had one night in the Cotswolds but chose this dog friendly inn on the latter point alone. The room was comfortable, the food superb, both dinner and breakfast and the bar was welcoming and friendly. Our visit coincided with a Churn Rowing Club dinner, but our stay was only enhanced by the event. They must be supreme athletes as the River churn is only 3 metres wide and 20 cm deep! A great location for exploring Cirencester and environs.

Room Tip: If you have a pet, book well in advance to get a dog friendly room

We stayed here for 3 nights with a couple of friends who had stayed here before and recommended it. We ate here each night as we were on a mid week dinner, bed & breakfast offer which was great value for money. Food was lovely (both dinner & breakfast) and service was friendly and efficient.

The place has a lovely friendly atmosphere - we've never been to a pub before where every second customer seems to have their dog with them. The weather was superb when we were there so it was lovely to sit outside, either at the tables directly outside the door or in the shade beside the stream.

We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed two nights recently. Our room, though quite basic, was comfortable, clean, everything worked and it had everything you needed. I appreciated the large mirror for make-up and liked the quirky artwork on the walls. The lack of a tv wasn't of any concern to us, but apparently the signal is very poor where the inn is located. As others have mentioned, a good place to escape from your phone as the mobile signal is also poor. However, it was good to have free wifi which I connected to with ease.

The bar used by locals is friendly and a variety of excellent local beers are served. The wines are really something special and the landlord is very knowledgeable - there is a lounge/wine room where you can relax and choose from the many different wines. We loved the food and being local often eat here. Good local/seasonal ingredients cooked and served well. We were offered a dessert wine which was fantastic.

On a sunny day I am sure it would be good to sit in the gardens, watching the river running by.
I would really recommend the Bathurst as an inn to stay overnight in, a restaurant to eat in, and a pub to enjoy a drink in. A good base for a visit to Gloucestershire.
