“Probably the best small hotel in Hermosa, killer location and amazing breakfast.”
4 of us came down for a week long surfing trip, with every intention of traveling further south, but after landing at Costanera B&B, we cancelled our plans and stayed here all week.
We checked out several hotels here in Hermosa (theres probably about 8-10, all along the water). Most were disgustingly filthy, full of cobwebs and dust, dirty sheets and in need of major repair. So when we found Costanera, we were pretty happy.
It's a small, single story building, with a nice little courtyard in the middle and a porch overlooking the beach. It's probably a 50ft walk to the beach...a very nice shortboard spot that goes off at 6am and again at 4pm.
The rooms are very simple and very well maintained. The place is owned by an italian couple, who may not be cuddly and warm, but who provide great service (mostly an amazing 4 plate breakfast, which is included in the price: eggs, cheese, tomatoes, bread, coffee, juice as tons of fruit).
The rooms around the courtyard have AC, and are about 10% more expensive than the 3 rooms overlooking the water. We stayed overlooking the water, and didn't need AC thanks to the breeze and a strong ceiling fan.
The only bad thing is probably the showers in the bathroom. They are some weird contraption that heats water for the shower, but just ends up giving a nice little electric shock if you want to adjust.
I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for amazing surf and a nice clean, comfortable spot to land.
Families with small children probably shouldn't come to Hermosa. The beach is too dangerous for kids (crocs and enormous waves, fast rip currents, etc.)
