“Good value for good quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

I have visited the red lion twice now, and both experiences have been positive.
The staff are efficient and friendly and the food and drinks of a high standard - they do a cracking pint of Adnams!
I had a rump steak for about a tenner that was thick and cooked perfectly and my wife had a chicken salad from the specials board which she loved! We also got a free desert because there was a deal on that day - bargain!
We will be back!

“Slow service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We have a caravan in nearby Waldringfield so occasionally use the local pubs. We decided to give this pub a try yesterday and called in for lunch at about 1245. Being a Monday it was not too busy and we ordered lunch, lasagne & chips, from their "deals" menu. It took at least 15 minutes to arrive and the chips were cold. However the lasagne was hot & tasty so we got on with it expecting the usual "is everything ok with your meal" which never came. No-one came to clear our plates or ask if we would like anything else so after a while I went back to the bar to order puddings and was charged full price instead of the promised £2. This was because we didn't have a tab! We sorted this out then waited 20 mins before asking "have we been forgotten". The manager replied he thought we'd had it & went in to kitchen to sort it out. Less than 5 mins later we had our puddings; again very nice but on service alone won't bother again.

Dear Diane T, thank you for your recent feedback on Trip Advisor. Your comments were a concern to hear and I would like to investigate your comments with the Management Team of the pub. I have sent you a direct message to discuss this further and look forward to hearing from you soon. Kind Regards, Chef & Brewer

“What a blinding pub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

One of the best pubs we've ever been in (and we have been in a few!) excellent service, excellent food, excellent hosts. Doggie biscuits, complimentary toiletries in the loos. Cant recommend it enough!

“An enjoyable late Sunday "lunch"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We headed out of Ipswich on the Woodbridge Rd looking for an early evening meal on a Sunday. We followed the signs to the Red Lion and found an old rambling pub that looked worth a visit. Although the dining room was full the attentive waiter found us a cosy spot in the bar. We ordered the Sunday roast of beef and gammon with all the trimmings which was very tasty with generous portions. We would certainly recommend the Red Lion as being worth a visit as the ambience, the food and the service was excellent.

“Enjoy with Tesco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Not sure I would bother at full price, but with Clubcard vouchers it is great.

Kids love it. Food is generally very good, and service is great. Just not sure it's worth the full menu price.
