Description: Boughton Monchelsea is a picturesque Kentish village that is home to the Cock Inn, a divine Elizabethan rural inn and restaurant which is filled with low beamed ceilings, an Inglenook fireplace, hand-written blackboard menus and general good cheer. The Cock Inn is dog and walker friendly free biscuits and towels for the dogs, and a warm welcome to the walkers and specialties from the restaurant kitchen include the seafood platters, the belly pork with crisp crackling and Brambly apple mash, and the slow-roasted braised lamb shank with minted gravy on a bed of creamy mash.

“English Country Pub Magic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

As you enter the Cock Inn, there is a notice which says something like 'I am an old lady with twisted beams and eleven floors' a healthy warning and then you just pass back in time. The low ceilings give the place an atmosphere that is almost difficult to describe. The menu looked excellent even though my visit was only for a drink. This is the type of English country pub that quite simply cannot be copied. It is gorgeous and well worth a visit.

“Can't be beaten!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

Lovely olde world pub with good food great beer and a real fire!! The food is excellent and varied and the best kept ale in Kent kept by Dave the landlord. He certainly knows his wine & beer!! Always a warm welcome...unless you have a bike and want to eat your own sandwiches and drink your own coffee on the premises!! Cheek! Some people have no sense!! Dave and Jo work hard to make their pub as welcoming as they can. Staff are to be complemented! All round a good 'real' pub. Excellent food and drink. And a real fire......What more could you you want?

“Excellent Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

Went with friends for their Birthday and had an absolutely wonderful meal. The Atmosphere was brilliant and both the Landlord and Landlady were very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend the Boughton mess.

“MEAL WITH FRIENDS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Late booking on Saturday night but managed to fit us in. Lovely old building with a good atmosphere. The landlady was very chatty and helpful unlike other people seem to have experienced. Staff efficient and polite, all enjoyed our food and would return. It is a bit pricier than the average but not enough to put off returning.

“started well then it all went down hill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

All I can say is utterly dissapionted, and when a problem arose the owner was no where to be seen. Will never return and definitely won't be recommending.
