Great peaceful location. Friendly family. Sparkly clean. Pleasing decor, excellent bathroom fittings. Good food. Three days not enough.

Myself and Helen stopped here Friday 25th March, it was such a warm welcome, very friendly couple and the B & B is outstanding. Had an absolute fantastic stay and the nights sleep was out of this world and one of the best breakfasts i've ever had. A delight, pleasant stay at Fairshaw Rigg and will definately stay there again. Would recommend to anyone, its awesome!! :)

Fairshaw Rigg has to be the best B&B I've ever stayed in. The service was incomparable, the rooms comfortable and warm, the service exemplary. I can't recall when I've met people so genuinely happy to help.

The room we stayed in was fabuloso, comfy bed, fab shower and I mean fab! Loads of hot water and great pressure so you don't get that tricksy twiddling with the dial malarkey but a truly controllable flow. There was tea and coffee, biscuits and chocolate which on their own would be great but added to this there was a fridge at the end of the corridor where there lived fresh milk, thus we could avoid those nasty little UHT cartons. The TV is on the wall, it’s a good size and there were plenty of channels to choose from. None of this peering myopically at a screen the size of a computer monitor.

Breakfast was as good as it sounded. My personal favourite was the best smoked haddock I've ever eaten, served with poached eggs (freshly laid by the resident hens) and newly baked bread every morning. But there was a Northumbrian fry-up, bacon sandwiches and a veggie option too. All of it freshly cooked and tasty.

On top of all that, there were alpacas! Beautiful llama like animals who have a fascinating connection to the farming community. It would have been easy to avoid the family pets but as I didn’t want to, there was a chance to chat to two gorgeous dogs and a cat or two.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have booked to return later in the year. This is truly a rare find in the most beautiful of settings!

Our second visit and it was simply brilliant. Every detail of the room and food was excellent, but especially the way our needs were anticipated and surpassed. The Alpacas are magical and you feel yourself unwind in their presence. The town of Hexham is charming and the countryside and wealth of historic sights nearby offer a range of opportunities. You will find your hosts informed, caring and charming as they welcome you into their lovely home. The high quality, locally sourced food for breakfast was cooked and presented to perfection. We hope it won't be long before we return.

Room Tip: A Beautiful location and a special welcome.

From the moment we arrived until checking out, we found Fairshaw Rigg to be perfect. The hosts go the extra mile to make visitors welcome. Whilst we were there, one couple were celebrating their Diamond Wedding anniversary. At breakfast all guests were made to feel part of the occasion by toasting the couple with Bucks Fizz, a lovely gesture by the owners. The accommodation is first rate, and spotlessly clean. My husband particularly enjoyed his Northumbrian breakfast every morning. The owner, Paul, will even suggest places to visit if visitors haven't got definite plans in place. Hexham is only a 5 min car journey away. We will certainly be recommending Fairshaw Rigg to our friends and family.

We have just returned from a weekend at the most charming B&B we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The quality and cleanliness of the property were excellent, and the outstanding breakfast was freshly prepared using the finest homemade or locally sourced ingredients. The owners offered us a warm, friendly welcome, and were on-hand should we have needed anything.

All in all a superb experience offering excellent value for money and a truly scrumptious breakfast. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.

I found it very difficult not to score this accommodation 5 on all qualities. Having only one chair in the bedroom was my only quibble. The couple who run the B&B and a small farm stocked with alpaca animals were sociable and helpful in making the most of our walking holiday in Hadrina's Wall country.
A place I would commend to all our friends.
