Owner description: Alpamare, a huge water park, is located 30 minutes outside the city. The water park is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as being the largest in Europe. “Expensive, unsafe, disgusting and rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

Rides were cool, but that is where our enjoyment finished. Tickets were overly expensive. The place is in really bad condition, with paint falling off the walls and ceilings in places. Instead of providing guidance and safety on the slides like any responsible venue like this, the lifeguards were more concerned with blowing up tubes, having conversations between themselves, and making sure you weren't wearing underwear... I've never come across such rude, unfriendly and useless staff as this place. After spending 150 francs on tickets for the family, and wasting 30 francs for the terrible food at the restaurant (the place is in complete disarray), to be treated with such disrespect from a certain lifegaurd means I won't be bringing my family back here anytime soon, and i'll be sure to advise friends and family against visiting too. Clean up your act Alpamare!

“Great place for the kids, and some relaxing spots for parents ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

My daughter had been wanting to go here for quite a while, and we finally relented and drove over there yesterday for a birthday treat. Unsurprisingly both kids (7 & 9) loved it there, but in addition my wife got a bit of time to relax on a sun lounger (only regret there - should have brought along a book).

The water slides are pretty varied and way more scary/fun (delete as applicable) than anything at the local Hallenbad. I managed to bruise both of my elbows, but still enjoyed it despite being terrified regularly. It was also nice to have a variety of devices to slide on, and best for me was a three seater, which meant I got to slide with both kids rather than having to choose which one to share with ... each slide has good clear signage about which device(s) and riding position(s) are allowed along with a grade (blue, red, black) to show how 'extreme' the ride is, and there is plenty of variation.

Not much in the way of queues either, and walking back up after sliding certainly wore us all out and had us all asleep nice and early!

Useful points
- They only do a family 4 hour ticket online, but they're OK with you buying online at the till using a smartphone if you have one. We wanted to use some Reka anyway so bought a family day ticket.
- Note that they don't give change for Reka, so we had to scrape together 9 CHF in change to cover the last bit of the 169CHF for the ticket.
- There is plenty of variation with lockers and locker sizes and the electronic wristband opens and closes the locks (which was handy as my usual 2CHF for lockers at the Hallenbad had gone towards the 9CHF on the way in!
- Most signage includes English for people who can't speak a local language
- It's quite easy to wander back in and out to the lockers too, so you can pack for all eventualities and have spare towels and so on waiting in the wings.
- We skipped eating there, as we weren't too sure about how to pay (and had some plans to eat on way home), but it looked like it was cleverly done, in that you collect charges on the wristband, and then pay at a machine on the way out, and then only get back out by giving back an empty wristband at the exit turnstile. Didn't try it and already thought that in the UK there'd be bound to be people that would 'lose' the wristband with plenty of charges on it and pay the 55CHF for a lost wristband to trick this system :) - although she did mention something about 50CHF maximum at the door on the way in, so maybe that is how they control that one (?) - I guess we'll find out more about this system next time as the kids want to go back soon.
- Water temperatures are good - even the more normal (rather than thermal) pools are warmer than the local Hallenbad.
- Final nice thing for me was the stunning views across lake Zürich towards the mountains that set this location off wonderfully.

“Great family fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Had a great time with kids aged between 5 and 9 years - great way to enjoy a rainy day. Loved the slides, the wave pool, the outdoor current pool, no long queues. Food was good but healthy options would also be good (same as most eating places in attractions in Europe - sausage and chips, chicken nugget and chips, etc).

“Fantastic Day for the whole familyd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Price - this is Switzerland and things are pricey. I visited May bank holiday weekend. Weather was overcast and rain was expected, temp 10 degrees C. From the outside you cannot get a full appreciation of the site.
Oce inside, staff were very helpful and hardly a queue. Changing rooms were very clean and warm. We had quick walk about to see what was available and were very pleased. Loads of slides for kids to enjoy safely. A large pool that also doubles as a tide pool. Great fun. Iodine pool was lively. Water temp in 2 outdoor pools was 37 degrees C. It was superb. Our kids aged 2 and 4 LOVED every second of the visit.
How crazy - it was raining and we were enjoying the lovely warm pool. The pools has underwater jets that thrust out water creating a massaging function ie thermal baths. Every pool has clever little things added like water fountains, waterfalls, massaging chair built into the pool, shower areas, BBQ areas, sun loungers, indoor Restuarant serving hot food and drinks.
I could not understand why some trip advisor members have said the place looked worn down. I thought it was amazingly clean, well maintained and staff all very helpful.
30-40 mins from Zurich.
Parking is free.
Take food/drinks with you.
Take a cheap bag to put your towels, goggles, etc in which you can keep near the pool. Everyone leaves their towels at designated places.
If you buy a 4 hour ticket then you need to be aware that its 5 Franc per 30 mins if you go over per adult.
Children under 6 are free entry.
Address: Bad Seedamm, AG Gwattstrasse 12, CH-8808 Pfäffikon

Not putting the UK down but everyone including the children and teenagers were so polite, never rude, courteous and helpful.
Internally the site is warm and clever little devices installed to keep the cold out.

Apologies but we did not think it was appropriate to take pictures therefore non posted.
We enjoyed our visit so much and I hope my review helps make your visit a memorable/happy one.

“Great Rainy-Day Activity in Late May”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We had a great adult play-date with a few friends last weekend. The water slides were very fun and surprisingly uncontrolled in comparison to North American water parks. Cobra was a rush and three adults on the triple buoy made for a wild ride on thriller. The current path around the outdoor pool was also lots of fun.

Clearly the clouds must descend on this place in the warm summer months but we found the crowds to be manageable on an early May morning. People who complain about missing tiles are focusing too much attention on the wrong details and clearly do not appreciate water slides.
