I have been travelling to the Maldives for 40 years. This was my third time at Fun Island over the last 20 years.
Bear in mind this is a low budget ( for the Maldives ) island, you should not expect entertainment, discos, dancing, instead peace and quiet. Who needs discos when, at the end of the Jetty, at night, turtles, mantas and all sorts of fish are just there to watch. There are only 59 rooms so thee island can never get crowded, in fact quite often we were the only ones on the beach.
The food is average, not cordon bleu but is very well presented with lots of choice and some excellent curries every night, an extensive choice of fruit is also available.
In my opinion the beaches and the views, plus the colours make this the most spectacular of the Maldive Islands I have visited.
The house reef is lovely and full of fish and I noted quite a bit of new coral growth showing the Eco system is recovering. Although I did not dive this time I learnt to dive on Fun Island 23 years ago and i know they have spectacular dive sites to go to. The rooms are basic but well cleaned and our room boy was amazing with his bed designs, see pics.
I hope Villa Hotels Pty look after this lovely, beautiful place and look after their staff, especially MrAli Ibrahim the entertainment manager who, although new to Fun Island was an exceptional host, also in reception I must mention Ismail Hamdaan, who was amazing at supplying humour as well as being a fantastic host.
Thanks all of you guys out there Dee and I will be beck soon.
