“Biyadhoo : Paradise on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

I had been to a lot of places right from Hawaii to Thailand but Maldives is nothing like anything I had seen !! Crystal clear waters , White sand , all kind of aquatic life at your foot step , fishes and a lot of fishes !!
This was our first trip to Maldives , so like all my trips I did a lot of research on which Resort to stay and narrowed it down to Biyadhoo.
It offered me more than what I had signed up for. Fantastic staff , Excellent island , Good food , Nice bar and beautiful white sand beaches with tons of corals.
Few Points to note :
1. Nice Big rooms with balcony. We were lucky to get the biggest room ( #74 ). ( there are 4 in each building )
2. Mini Bar in the room.
3. Western side of the Island is better than the eastern side. ( Room # 50 + to 90 I think )
4. Excellent Dive center and Water Activity Centre. We loved the way Karlose : Water activity guy had maintained his place.
5. It has a big football ground at the centre. So if you are from UK and travelling in group you can have one MU vs RM their :-)
6. You can go for snorkelling on any side of the Island. Passage 2,3 have high current though.
7. If you stay for more than 3 days you will defiantly see Sharks / Sting Ray's / Turtle / Dolphins etc right from the beach itself.
8. Since there are no TV's in Any room and they don't give newspapers you feel totally cutoff from rest of the world. ( You do get telephone signals on the Island : So if you have $ to spare, you can switch on your Data Service on Roaming and stay connected )
9. Food is ok I would say. They do repeat good part of the menu everyday. Potato / Peas / Soups and Sweet dish were my favourite. Food is not bad by any stretch of imagination. You can also order King Crabs / Pizza etc if you want. Vegetarians can also easily survive.
10. Excursions are not value for money. Unless you really don't have anything to do I would suggest simply avoid it.
11. They do accept Credit Cards. Dollar is the official currency on the Island.
12. Don't forget to take Window seat on your flight into Maldives. Views are breathtaking.
13. Island takes you back in time , it has it's old world charm and I am not surprised so many people come back to this Island again n again !!
14, Transfers to the the airport both ways was really smooth. We don't have to wait for more than 10min.
15. Carry a lot of sun cream and apply it . Maldives is on Equator and sun rays are direct. Before you will realise you will be tanned :-)
16. Last but not the least don't forget to carry underwater camera. Its a MUST !!

Net Net , this place is worth every penny you pay !

Room Tip: Room in the West Side. Room # 74 to 80 are really good !!

Maldives is a beauty! Bluest waters and whitest sands possible! This island, like other hotels in Maldives is gifted by nature's beauty and is basking under the sun with all it's glory!

Food was not that great!! Its just Okay, you can have it to quench your Hunger :) Staff was helpful enough to make the food the way wanted it to be.

This island has all the reefs and Corals intact near its premise, thanks for not destroying with water villas.

If you want to relax completely with the thought of "No Shoes, No News" Go for Biyadhoo..

We have just returned from a three-week stay at Biyadhoo - our eighth time there! It was very quiet, possibly because news of the postponement of a plan to close and revamp the resort (from May onwards) was announced too late for many potential customers. It seems that, for the time being, no radical changes are going to take place on the island. Instead, rooms and facilities are being renovated where needed and convenient (with no significant disturbance to guests, at least when we were there).
Our room was fine, anyway, with only minor signs of wear and tear. We slept very well, on the whole. When we did not, it was due to inconsiderate fellow guests, rather than anything to do with the beds or the room. The food was fine, too: plenty of excellent fish and good curries.
The island has a good house reef with large numbers of colourful fish and some nice areas of healthy corals - bring a camera that you can use when snorkelling. Around two thirds of Biyadhoo's perimeter consist of the stereotypical white sandy beaches of the Maldives. There is no shortage of sun loungers. In fact, there are so many now that the empty ones sometimes spoil what would otherwise be a nice photo.
The issue of large numbers of day trippers, which some earlier reviews refer to, appears to have been resolved. There were only ever a handful of people from other islands when we were there - and they certainly did not create problems.
It is difficult to imagine why you might not have a good time here. That said, I realise that for some people the Maldives are about water bungalows, whirl pools, fancy cuisine, and the opportunity to show off their garb. Biyadhoo does not fit into that slot - I am pleased to say. If, on the other hand, you are essentially looking for a friendly, down-to-earth place with beautiful vegetation and lovely turquoise waters, this island might be a good choice for you. We certainly like it a lot - and hope it will not change (much) in the future.
The only niggle for us was that our tour operator, Kuoni UK, has clearly set its sights more on cost-cutting than customer satisfaction. Access to the Male airport lounge used to be free for all clients - now there is a charge (of $50 per person). The free snorkelling excursion, previously included in the All Inclusive option, has also been axed - allegedly "for health and safety reasons". None of the other tour operators appear to have such concerns and, strangely, when you pay for it, the snorkelling trip seems to become quite safe.

This was the most fantastic place to be. It was relaxing, peaceful and friendly. The rooms were spotless and with hot running water a lovely big bed. What more could you want? The food was delicious, and the bar was all that we needed, from soft drinks to cocktails. Everyone was very helpful. We needed for nothing. Would love to go back.

A tiny piece of paradise, that didn't cost the earth! Can't recommend this place enough, with its comfortable rooms and reasonable price, it really is a great place. The island had a great dive centre and the beach was lovely. The house reef for snorkelling was amazing too, the variety of sea life was fantastic and whilst we were there there was a baby reef shark in the shallows. The food was not impressive but very tasty and 'did the job'. The staff were all very friendly and the whole stay was very relaxing. A great way to enjoy the Maldives, but without the pretence of overwhelming luxury.

Room Tip: They are small apartments rather than villas

Brilliant, their slogan of No news, no shoes is exactly what it is - paradise. Not luxury, but an excellent holiday, but make sure you take the all inclusive option Drinks in the Maldives are expensive. No swimming pool but hey who needs one with that lovely reef teaming with fish! On my list to return

Just home after another 2 excellent weeks on Biyadhoo. This was our second visit, that last time being 2009. Nothing much has changed since our last time there!...apart from the quality of the food which seems to have got even better (& it wasn't bad last time!) & possibly new aircon units on some rooms? Yes, the rooms are dated , but they are kept very clean by the very helpful staff.

Literally the only thing I would change would be something very minor in the restaurant.....the awful orange light shades which can make for a gloomy atmosphere when dining! Swap them out please?!! So no major complaints from me! As long as you like well prepared , simple food (and enjoy curries!) you'll have no problem finding something good to eat. I usually get very bored with AI food after 8 or 9 days but not at Biyadhoo.

Waiter & Bar service was great, the guys all work very hard and are very genuine people. They deserve your tips.

Beaches were beautiful, plentiful Sunbeds. Though deffo a good idea to take a li-lo or similar for a little more comfort.

Diving with Dive Ocean was excellent. Expensive, but hey...guess what? its the Maldives! Oddly there weren't many divers on the island during our stay so not uncommon to go out on with only 1 or 2 other divers on the dohni...on three occasions I went out with the instructors on my own. Fantastic diving as always, with some pretty challenging dive sites to do if you want to.

Anyone moaning about Biyadhoo is missing the point entirely. It is NOT a 4 or 5 star luxury resort. It is a simple, back to basics, beautiful place and we hope it never changes (apart from the light shades!) It would seem many people agree - we met so many who were on their 5th or 6th visit. Stories were circulating that Biyadhoo may close next year for a full re-vamp to luxury status. I really, really hope not. For those of us on a budget who just want to enjoy this spectacular part of the world without taking out a second mortgage Biyadhoo is UNBEATABLE.
