“Italian Mini Break Deli”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Adriano's deli is as close as you'll get to a typical big city deli in Italy. Lots of fresh pastas and ravioli but the sandwiches win the day. Try a Mediterranean focaccia with porchetta, fontina cheese from Valle d'osta with fresh tomatoes simple, simple, simple and absolutely gorgeous. In fact all of their breads are a delight. The atmosphere is always buzzing the staff usually all Italian and the cappuccinos as tasty as ever.

“Bellissimo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

A great authentic cafe in the heart of Gosforth, this deli has great staff, a lively group of Italian girls who occasionally drop into English,and who serve up the tastiest dishes. In the summer there is a delightful outdoor sitting area (a rarity in Gosforth) and whilst there's limited space inside, it's got a great atmosphere. The food is fantastic - from the freshly prepared panini to the more substantial hot dishes (which you can have as takeaways too). I think it's the best cafe in either Jesmond or Gosforth. It owned by the same family who have the restaurant immediately behind - but whilst I like Adrianos restaurant too, the deli has the edge, probably because it feels so very italiian. A gem!

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Based on visit on 04/09/2013.

* Perfect setting with very good atmosphere.
* Great menu choice
* Expensive starters though
* Conservative portion sizes
* slow service for initial drinks and food order
* over enthusiastic italian staff member - border line annoying
* Great food overall

“Wood fired pizza oven”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We visited Adriano's in Gosforth for lunch whilst visiting family. The place itself is very nicely laid out, bright and clean, so the scene was set well. It's always nice when the majority of staff are Italian, it gave the place some authenticity, reflected in the menu which had a good selection, a feel of Sardinia came through in the dish descriptions.
I went pretty basic but wanted to try a pizza as they have a wood burning pizza oven in the middle of the dining area so 'garlic bread' it was! It was lovely, a really light thin base and just the right amount of topping. I followed that with spaghetti vongole which was finished with grated bottarga. The dish was good but appeared to have a dash of cream, (I don't think it was the starch from the pasta) that I've never had in this dish. I prefer it without, simple, olive oil, garlic, chilli and parsley for me but I guess that's down to personal taste. My wife and son had calamari that was cooked well and tossed in polenta, not as crispy as some like it but it tasted lovely, they both followed with a pizza, again, nice and light and cooked really well, the remains travelled home with us for supper. No sweet, we were too full so a good espresso finished things off. All in all a nice lunch but I felt, despite everything, the place was a bit cold and lacking atmosphere, this was maybe just a lunchtime service and I'm sure not something you would feel on a busy evening.
