Aberavon Beach is an underrated gem in South Wales. Where holiday makers prefer to visit the likes of Three Cliffs and Caswell Bay, locals more often than not opt for Aberavon.
The beach itself has seen large improvements in recent years, having been neglected through the late 80s and 90s. The beach is combed and cleaned daily and dogs are banned during summer months,in the interest of safety and to prevent fouling on the beach. Both the promenade and the beach itself are perfect for running along, wether it be by professional athletes or enthusiastic keep fit fans.
There are a number of public conveniences around (2 I believe) however they are spread out along the 1 mile promenade. Car parking facilities are free and ample, however do get filled up quite quickly during hot, sunny days. The are plenty of play areas for young children and even a small skateboard park, which are all free. Coffee shops and snack bars are also in abundance.
This Beach front has it all!
