“Great art, great location and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

My wife and I usually visits in the week-end around 11.30 cet. As we've been there several times - +50 times - we usually begin our visit eating lunch to be sure to get a seat at their large panorama windows so we can admire the view of the sea (the view is great nomatter the weather).

The food is great - Louisiana has been through several different menus and they've recently introduced a typical danish "smørrebrøds" menu and today we had the salmon on rye, chicken salat on rye etc - it was outstanding, but a bit on the expensive side - 80 DKK each.

The exhibitions are always inspiring and great - we enjoy them nomatter what the topic is and whoever the artist is on display.

If you are in Denmark and has some days here - I suggest that you take the train to Humlebæk and visit.

“Great museum of modern art!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Just close to the see with a large park full of statues (Calder, Dubuffet,...), the modern art museum of Denmark is a perfect destination for an afternoon.
The permanent exhibition is very nice with a lot of COBRA paintings and the temporary exhibition is very interested!
The cafeteria has a nice view on the see!
The museum is easily reach from Copenhagen by train (in 30 minutes) and then 10 minutes walk from the train station. Don't miss the opportunity to go there!

“Everything a museum can be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

All other Nordic art museums strives to be even somewhat close to what this is. It is the perfect modern art museum!

They have the best artists, the most interesting works, exciting and innovative communication, there's nothing to pick on museologically.

The building is great, the garden is beautiful, the terrace faces the ocean - and this is great even in winter. The restaurant has great food and wine and great both indoor and outdoor seating.

Just go to this place. Bring the kids, grandparents, colleagues, friends, enemies - everyone will love it.

“Easy Jaunt From Copenhagen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

If you have a few days in Copenhagen, Louisiana is a great museum of modern art in a spectacular setting that is an easy train ride away. You can buy a combined rail and entry ticket at the train station in Copenhagen and there are frequent departures and returns daily. The countryside you travel through is attractive with occasional sea views and gives a sense of suburban and rural life. It is a reasonably short walk from the Humlebaek station to the museum, housed in a low white house with modern wings. There is an expansive lawn with great views over the water below, that serves as a sculpture garden. While not nearly as extensive as, say, the Kroller-Muller, the garden is well-worth wandering. You can also view much of the sculpture garden through the windows as you wander through the museum itself. The permanent collection is extensive and there are fine temporary exhibitions (a huge Ed Kienholz installation and a scan of new Nordic architecture when we were there.) We enjoyed lunch in the cafe - an eclectic menu well-prepared and thought the museum store was smashing. Do not miss this when you visit Copenhagen - it's easy and wonderful!
