“Good food & friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Everyone that waited on us was very friendly and attentive; although for a Sat night, it wasn't very busy. Our waiter seemed just as comfortable being personable with us as he was discreet with the romantic couple at the other end of the patio.
We began with a caprese & a carpaccio starter that were both delicious. Next our ravioli & risotto entries were just as tasty. We finished by splitting a devine chocolate mousse and were quite stuffed and happy. The prices are higher but it really feels like you are getting quality products.
Il Forno was recommended to us by some locals and they certainly came through for us!

“A great family restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Il Forno offers a very appealling menu and años excellent service. The back of the restaurant offers a very pleasant "al fresco" terraza/porch with the view over a man-made lake, excellent for the Florida balmy Winter season.

“Great Food, Service Continues to Disappoint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Four of us ate here for a business lunch last week. My boss likes this restaurant so we continue to go there as it is conveniently located in Doral. However, I have never received good service at this restaurant which is such a shame as the food is really good! The pasta with seafood was excellent loaded with lots of shellfish etc., the food was nice and hot, but the service was awful. Ten minutes after we sat down, no one had been to see us or given us water; the waiter then came and said "May I take your order" to which I said, "Could we please get some water first and drinks!" - they brought water and I ordered an ice tea; the drinks were not refilled during the meal in a timely manner and twice I had to ask for refills. The bread was good to start the meal and all of our lunches were delicious. However, there was no salt and pepper on the table, I requested them and only got pepper, no ground pepper was offered for the pasta so I had to ask for that too! No cheese was offered; had to ask for that too (By this time I was tired of getting up to hunt down the waiter for all these things) - then we had no spoons - guess they wanted us to eat pasta with a knife and fork! By now the waiter had completely disappeared so I had to ask the lady at the front desk for spoons! Honestly, it was a disaster. Luckily we were not in a hurry and the business guest that we were taking out luckily was an old friend and none of this bothered him, but it's really a pity as the food is good which is the only reason I give this restaurant an average rating. So come and enjoy the food, but be forewarned about the service!

“Outstanding Food, Inattentive Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

We dined on a Saturday at 6pm. There were 5 in our party, plus a 14 month old. The meal started with several glasses having to be exchanged for ones without lipstick on them. The bread that they brought when we sat down was really neat, a puffed, almost middle eastern style bread, though they forgot the olive oil and vinegar accompaniments.

The food was top notch. There is something on the menu for everyone, from traditional Italian staples like chicken parm, to more interesting pastas with seafood and squid ink.

Service was really lousy. Our glasses went empty several times. It was about 15 minutes after our wine glasses sat empty that a waiter asked if we'd like another bottle. Shame, because restaurants make a lot of their business on drinks.

I can understand slow service when your clientele is a couple on a date, but with an infant getting restless, it was too slow. Another ten or so minutes passed between when we finished our mains and when the plates were cleared and when we were given dessert menus. Desserts arrived swiftly, but coffee came several minutes later.

Of note, the service was inattentive, but the staff was busy watching soccer on the the TVs at the bar.

“Oh My!! What a dinner experience! The best thing about the Miami area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Our hotel had this place on its list of suggested places to eat nearby. What we didn't expect was an entire culinary experience from service to atmosphere to food! I had the Ravioli del Pera and my coworker had the fresh fish w/caper sauce. Both of us were just stymied about how many flavors we were experiencing at once. These folks know how to combine ingredients and make magic! Their unique fresh "bread" almost looked more like puffed up naan bread but fit so well with our meals. They also had high quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table for creating your own dip if desired. I SO wish this place was near my home in GA. Oh my!!
