“Luxurious wit some caveats”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The Trump National Doral is another classic signature from the Trump Luxurious series. The Resort is located in Doral, a suburb of Miami with over 800 acres of property that has been renovated recently. The hotel is composed of multiple Villas ( which are luxurious buildings with several floors and multiple rooms ) dispersed around the club house which is the focal point. the Villas are also surrounding a golf course with 90 hole course. The resort has all the amenities for a luxurious stay including a large Golf course, centrally located pool , restaurants, and beautiful spacious rooms with marble floors and nice walk-in showers. the rooms are big enough to fit easily 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids. I have given the hotel property 5 stars because of its truly nice design and upscale feel. it offers free wifi and the beds are very comfortable . staff were helpful and nice.
However there are some drawbacks to keep in mind:
1- it is not near the waterfront and is about 15 min- 20 min to the ' happening" areas in South beach.
2- Food is super expensive and is only slightly above average quality for a 5 star resort (especially for the room in-dining. I paid 67 dollars for cup of soup, chicken Cesar salad and coffee).
3- while there is self parking option, the parking is located distant from the villas so much so that it is essentially impractical to park there . hence you are stuck with the valet parking which you pay heavily for!
4- just like the rest of the Trump properties, get assessed a daily resort fee
5- if you need a roll-away bed, you are charged 50 dollars per night
6- the pool is located in-front of he club house where guests check in , so it might be uncomfortable having to walk in wearing your swimming suit when other guests are showing up for business meetings wearing business suits.
overall, it is a nice resort, services are expensive but the hotel is comfortable.

Room Tip: see if you can get reservation through a third party where resort fees are already paid for.

Sixteen of us stayed at Trump National Doral for our annual Golf outing. The entire Doral experience met all of our expectations. The golf courses were in top condition. The rooms were fantastic. The entire staff was there to make our stay special. The attention to every detail was very obvious and much appreciated. We all felt our DORAL event was one of our best ever.

Stayed for 5 nights in May. Attended a conference so had no chance to play golf. This probably defeats the purpose of going to this resort since basically everything is about golf.
The hotel is expensive and the green fees obviously even higher.
Rooms are spacious and the sound proofing is very good.
The temperature in the conference rooms was strangely uneven, going from ice cold to Luke warm.

The cleaning of the rooms was late and inattentive every morning. No morning were the rooms cleaned before 11. Refill of schampoo, soap and even coffee was very uneven.
The prices in the shops are ridiculously high.

The restaurants are of good to high quality but everything is charged and at high prices.
I don't mind paying significant money for high quality food or lodging but no matter what Donald Trump says: this is not the overall outstanding quality place he claims this to be.

I had such a pleasant experience recently when visiting the Trump National Doral in Doral, Florida. I was there for the Cadillac Championship festivities and everyone was so attentive to the guests, but there was one employee in particular who stood out. Miss Ana Eijo was truly top notch, and made the resort shine. Customer service is truly what its all about, and this employee made a great impression. Thanks so much!

I stayed at Trump National Doral for a conference. The property is beautiful and everyone I interacted with offered great service! The room was very spacious and nice. The bathroom was to small. I mean ridiculously small. The bath mat took up entire floor. I heard this was not the case in other rooms so make sure and ask.
The other suggestion is for the conference space. More chairs and outlets needed. Would definitely go back.

A great classic resort trashed by another gaudy makeover. The Trumps have ruined the place. It isn't the DORAL that use to be. Now looks like a fake Baroque disaster. Fake concrete fountains that aren't even good fakes. They have put fake Doric and Ionic (which don't go together) around the place too. Not to forget the wrought iron and gold leaf, lots of marble too. Gone is the coral and elements that were true DORAL in classic 50's Floridian architecture. Also gone is the old "attentive" staff. Good luck if you need something. Very poor service. Prices also have risen, really risen. I guess if you are a Trump Wannabe, this place is for you. As for golf. Greens are terribly slow. He planted a lot of trees and bushes around the perimeter of the property, which really must have pissed off all the people who live there. Moving the tee boxes back doesn't make it a great course. Great White is gone, going to be developed into high rise apartments and shopping malls. This was a great resort...gone to the dogs. Now just a noisy resort in the flight path to a very busy airport. Great place if you like watching planes land. You can play "identify that plane" while laying by the pool or waiting to tee off.

It has a spectacular location and the grounds are well kept up. Rooms are fantastic. But there is a sense of greediness and profit centricity.

Examples:

I tried all three restaurants twice, but found them about average for a "date night" level restaurant. However, the prices are more 10-year anniversary level. Truth is I may be spoiled as I live in a foodie town. For $750 (party of 6), I expected better.

My bags were taken out of the cab and tagged by the bellhop before I was even out of the car. That was good, but I really am quite capable of walking to the adjacent villa (50 feet) and really don't need a golf cart - but his aggressive approach made me feel pressured into having him bring my bags the 50 feet and pay him for something I can do. I expected that he would have at least asked if I wanted his assistance.

I was in line at their nicest restaurant for breakfast and the woman in front of me asked if she could get a quick cup of coffee and a pastry to go. Instead of referring her to the take out bistro directly one level below, the hostess said she didn't think so, but went to ask her manager - her attempt to drive business to the more expensive restaurant was another example of profit over customer. In true 5-star experiences, the staff are nearly invisible until they anticipate a need and they are right there to solve it seamlessly. The entire experience felt like a bunch of friendly support staff all clamoring for their next $10 dollar tip.

I'll try somewhere else next time and just play golf here.
