“Give it a miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This place is very overrated and sterile. It is typical of an Indonesian "city" hotel with a very smart and impressive foyer but the rooms are not very special and the restaurant is terrible!!
When we were there a conference was on and we couldn't even get to the pool as that was where all the men were hanging around smoking.
The hotel has no atmosphere and is very expensive for what you get.
As it was STILL under construction in late October there was plenty of banging going on till 9pm which made it pretty tough to sleep. It is also a fair way out of town with nothing around.

When we were there the hotel did not have a license so we couldn't buy alcohol in fact we couldn't even get a tonic water!!!!

We checked out a day early and enjoyed one night in Jakarta which was a much better experience all up. This place was the only dud on an otherwise brilliant holiday with the Orangutans!

There is an advantage to "new" but this hotel was clearly not ready to open. Very stark interior. No artwork. Restaurant looked like a snack bar. No personality whatsoever, A bit out of town. Probably ok since most people are there to visit Tanjung National Park.. Had we been closer to town I definitely would have explored more meal options. Strange massage place on second floor. Ladies sitting on the floor behind an open door chatting. Very unprofessional. Rooms were nice but nothing to write home about. A little expensive for what you got and difficult to communicate. Many of the staff knew very little English. I would not stay here again or recommend.

Warmest and sunniest greetings from Swiss-Belinn Pangkalan Bun

First of all , we would like to thank you for the feedback toward our hotel. And concerning the artwork for the lobby , public area and room is still on our follow up and it will surely start within this year for the art work .

Swiss Belinn Pangkalan Bun is a three star hotel in Swiss Belhotel International group and its restaurant is having a concept of a combination of Bar, Restaurant and Lounge and it is called " Barelo"

Our hotel is only 10 minutes from the Airport and it is only about 3 Kms from the town ( Market ). You are right that there are several options for meal during stay in Pangkalan Bun. However, we are the only International hotel in the area and we ensure you that we adhere to the standard of hygiene in our food production.

Again thanks for your comment of the massage staff and surely we will deal with our massage staff accordingly.

For sure our front of the house staff know English and if you try to communicate with our back of the house team it would be a little challenge. however, we have anticipate this issue with our regular English class.

I would really looking forward see you personally if you would stay in our hotel again.

I'm led to believe this is now the best hotel in PKN and I don't doubt it. When we stayed it wasn't finished but as good as, so were given a discount over the intended rate. I hope by now the pool is finished. The staff were very helpful and charming, the rooms a little small relative to what else is avaliable but the finish is smart and clean and new, everything worked and the lobby is an oppulent place to relax, chat, have a drink or use the wifi. Buffet style Indonesian breakfast. Fast-ish wifi. Can't fault it really!

A sight to behold when arriving into Pangkalan Bun.
It is the 1st 3 star International Hotel in Pangkalan Bun.
PB is the capital of the Kotawaringin Recency in the West of Central Kalimantan.

The hotel opened for business just 3 months ago.
Great value for money when compared to 1 or 2 other established hotel in P.B.
Look out for a Bu Santi at the front office. She was extremely helpful when we were checking in.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to all foreigners arriving into PB or to those wanting to visit Tanjong Putin Orang Utan Santuary.
